The Chicago Bears are showing that they are a world-class organization by giving one of their players, as well as America, what they want when it comes to Simone Biles’ happiness.
Simone Biles’s husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, received the awesome news that, thanks to the Bears, he will be able to watch his Olympian gymnast wife live at the Paris Olympics for the first time.
Biles revealed this information on Sunday that the team was excusing her husband from a few days of training camp so he can go to the Paris Olympics and watch her compete.
“The Bears are actually granting him a couple days off from training camp, so he’ll be there, yes,” she said, grinning. “For just a short little time.”

Simone Biles and Owens have been together since 2020, when he played for the Houston Texans. Their relationship continued as he moved on to play for the Green Bay Packers.
The couple would finally get married last year, but this will be the first of her major international competitions he’s been able to attend.
Unfortunately for him and others, family and friends weren’t allowed at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 because of the global pandemic and strict COVID regulations. The 2023 world championships also took place right in the heart of the NFL’s regular season.
Fortunately, Owens has been able to attend all her meets this summer, as none of the dates conflicted with his schedule.
Simone Biles and her squad will have qualifying on July 28, with the team final on July 30. The women’s all-around final will then be on August 1.
The Chicago Bears will open training camp on July 23, three days before the Opening Ceremony in Paris. They will then play in the Hall of Fame Game on August 1, but not many expect any starters to play in that game in Canton, Ohio.
“Anytime we can show up for one another in support, we just get super excited because our schedules don’t align that much,” Biles said. “So whenever it does, it’s really important for the both of us to show up in support.”
Simone Biles Defends Jonathan Owens Against Trolls
Simone Biles came to her husband Jonathan Owens’ defense, months after he made headlines for his comments about the start of their relationship.
He first sparked outrage when he recalled not knowing “who [Biles] was” when they first met on a dating app. He also called himself the “catch” in their relationship.
The 27-year-old gymnast spoke candidly about her partner on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast when she stated she found amusement in the viral reaction but then pointed to how hurt she was over the criticism.
“I thought it was hilarious at first, and then they hurt my feelings,” she said. “And then one night, I broke down and I’m like:‘Why are you guys talking about my husband like this? Like, you don’t know him. You don’t know who he is. And if anybody’s met him, they know he’s the sweetest guy and will do anything for anybody.’”
“Because for me, it’s like: ‘Talk about me all you want, but don’t come for my family, never,’” she said. “Because I’ve been in the limelight long enough where I can brush things off, have my little powwow about it. You’re not going to know I cried about it, but I be crying about some stuff. But I only cry about it because I can’t clap back. Just know that.”
