Travis Kelce turned in another signature NFL playoff performance as the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round on Saturday. Despite his hard work, he almost cost his team in a huge moment after a second-half touchdown catch from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Ahead 13-12 early in the fourth quarter, Mahomes launched a Superman-style pass into the end zone that found Kelce wide open for six. It was the 18th time they have connected for a passing touchdown in the playoffs, extending an NFL record they already owned. Taylor Swift and Caitlin Clark were seen celebrating the play, while Kelce broke it down with one of his signature touchdown dances. In the commotion, the officials missed Kelce’s taunting gesture towards the Texans defender.

Fans on social media did not let it slide, convinced that the officials let the two-time defending Super Bowl champions off the hook. Fans of other NFL teams posted evidence of identical gestures made by Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers and Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London that were flagged for taunting. Flowers’ came against the Chiefs. Although the missed flag would not have negated the touchdown if it were thrown, the 15-yard penalty could have affected the point after try or the ensuing kickoff if it were enforced. Instead, Kansas City went up 20-12 after the extra point.
