NFL fans had all sorts of wild reactions to the ending of the Kansas City Chiefs-Houston Texans Divisional Round game that wound up being a huge victory for Vegas.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated C.J. Stroud’s Texans 23-14 to clinch their seventh straight trip to the AFC Championship Game. They’re now just one victory away from matching the record of eight, set by the New England Patriots from 2011 to 2018.
Though it wound up being a two-score win, fans are losing their minds and calling the Chiefs-Texans game “rigged” because of the ending. Some sportsbooks had Kansas City as a 9.5-point favorite, but they purposely surrendered a safety in the waning seconds that dropped their lead from 11 to nine:
“And there are a lot of people who are paying attention to that. That makes it a 9-point game, world.” – Joe Buck
“Al Michaels is smiling right now.” – Troy Aikman

So naturally, fans are convinced that the game was “rigged” since the safety wound up screwing over the people who took the under:
“Can’t rig a spread better than this. Chiefs -9.5 falls because of an intentional safety. Chiefs only win by 9,” one fan wrote.
“WWE 🤡… I know y’all just seen Vegas 💰 make the Chiefs take that safety… What is done in the dark will come to light 🚨 #NFLRigged,” said another.
“so that safety has gotta be one of the most blatant cases of rigging for gambling purposes of all time right?,” asked another.
“These games are fixed. Line is 9.5. Kansas city runs into end zone for a safety 23–14. Can u imaging betting KC. Fixed. NFL is a joke,” a fan said.
“People will watch the chiefs take a safety to ruin the 10 point spread and will look you in your face and tell you it’s not rigged,” quipped another.
“You cannot convince me that game wasn’t fixed. Late money moved the line to 9.5, Chiefs take an intentional safety to win by 9 after the refs helped them all game. Investigate this league,” wrote a fan.
Kansas City Chiefs Face Winner of Bills vs. Ravens
The Chiefs will either host the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game or face Josh Allen and the archrival Bills in a rematch of the 2023 Divisional Round.
