The Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes were gifted a first down on a controversial roughing the passer penalty that could change the outcome of their game against the Houston Texans.
On the Chiefs’ second drive of the game, with the game tied 3-3, Texans defensive end Will Anderson struck Mahomes right as the ball was released, and what should’ve been a change of possession with a punt coming up would turn into a roughing the passer penalty.
The Chiefs were given 15 yards and a free first down, which led to a field goal.
AND HERE WE GO.
Texans EDGE Will Anderson Jr called for roughing the passer on Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on a play where the Chiefs would’ve had to punt.
Next play: 20 yard connection from Mahomes to Travis Kelce

Right after it happened, former Texans legend JJ Watt would take to X, formerly Twitter, and state, “Roughing the Passer penalties are out of control. Rinse. Repeat,” he declared.
“He literally hit him in the chest. With his facemask. That was insane,” he added in a second post.

The Kansas City Chiefs are doing what they are supposed to do as they face the Texans inside Arrowhead Stadium.
