The New England Patriots fired coach Jerod Mayo after one season, the team announced hours after their Week 18 game ended.
The Patriots have fired the embattled head coach following a disappointing 4-13 debut season.
After going over two decades without having to make a change at head coach, the New England Patriots will now be looking for another head for a second straight offseason.
It did not take very long for a new name to pop up.
There are quite a few candidates who could be options, but one clear-cut favorite has already risen to the top.
Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has been linked to the New England job for the past few weeks, and now he has emerged as the top favorite to be hired by his former team in the offseason.
Bovada Official has him as the strong favorite, with Ben Johnson being second on the list.

The New England Patriots will have some competition as the New York Jets interviewed the former Cleveland Browns’ coaching and personnel consultant on Friday for their head coaching position, as announced by the Jets.
The 49-year-old was hired by the Browns this past spring following a 6-10-0 season with the Tennessee Titans.
The New England Patriots Screwed Themselves Out of Draft Pick
The New England Patriots had a chance to secure the number one draft pick by losing games, which is what they’ve been doing all year.
Much to the disappointment of many of their fans, the Patriots defeated the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
As a result, the Patriots screwed themselves from having the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and will instead draft fourth overall.
