Patrick Mahomes Sends Clear Message to Teammates Amid Game Rigging Controversy: “I’m Done Carrying This Team All the Time”

In the midst of a growing controversy over potential game-rigging in the Kansas City Chiefs’ recent victories, quarterback Patrick Mahomes has delivered a powerful message to his teammates, expressing frustration with the team’s reliance on him to shoulder the load.

“I’m done carrying this team all the time,” Mahomes said during a candid post-game interview. His words came after a series of close wins and heightened scrutiny over officiating, with some critics suggesting that the Chiefs have received unfair advantages in certain games. Mahomes made it clear that while he is willing to lead, he expects more from his teammates.

“I can’t do it alone,” Mahomes continued. “We have the talent on this team to be great, but it’s not just about me. Everyone needs to step up. That doesn’t mean we need help from the refs—this is about us playing to our full potential and getting the job done as a team.”

The Chiefs have been at the center of a petition filed by 31 NFL teams, requesting an investigation into the fairness of their games. While Mahomes has firmly denied any involvement in or support for any potential rigging, his comments indicate a desire for his team to perform at a higher level without relying on outside factors.

Despite the controversy, Mahomes remains focused on improving and elevating his team’s performance. “We’re capable of so much more,” he said. “We just need to play better, and I know we can.”

Fans again accuse NFL of rigging game in favor of Chiefs for another controversial and illegal action

Controversy has sparked on social media

Reid

Controversy has already sparked after the Kansas City Chiefs’ opening game against the Baltimore Ravens, with many NFL fans questioning a key officiating decision that favored the Chiefs. Before halftime, with the Ravens threatening in the red zone, Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo called for a timeout from the sidelines.

According to NFL regulations, only a head coach is authorized to request timeouts, making this an unusual situation.

NBC rules expert Terry McAulay was quick to criticize the officiating crew for allowing Spagnuolo to make the call, pointing out that this was a clear violation of the league’s rules.

“He can’t do that,” McAulay said. “It has to be the head coach to come down. Nobody else can call a timeout on the sidelines besides the head coach.”

The incident sparked outrage among fans, with many taking to social media to accuse the league of bias. Some even suggested that the decision reflected favoritism towards the Chiefs, a narrative that’s been brewing due to their consistent success over the past few seasons.

Fan reaction to Chiefs controversy

Fans speculated that this was just another example of questionable calls benefiting Kansas City, fueling claims that the game might have been unfairly influenced.

“THE REFS JUST LET THE CHIEFS GET A TIMEOUT OFF WHEN THEIR DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR CALLED IT LMAOOOOO RIGGED LEAGUE STRIKES AGAIN,” a fan wrote on X.

Another added: “Multiple Illegal formation calls ONLY on ravens, Spags calling a timeout when it should only be HC…THIS is why ppl think refs favor chiefs.”

“The #NFLRigged people don’t care that people have their own videos of the game where the rigging is obvious,” a third noted.
