Brett Favre slams Senator Mitt Romney for praising controversial Last Supper parody at Olympics opening ceremony

Brett Favre is not best pleased with Mitt Romney’s praise for the Paris Olympics opening ceremony and one suspects the drag queens recreating the Last Supper might have something to do with it. The 2024 Olympics featured many great performances like Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, and that is what the Utah Senator wanted to celebrate. Tweeting from Paris, he wrote on X,

“The @Paris2024 Opening Ceremony showcased the world’s most beautiful city. Imaginative, inventive and memorable. The performance by Celine Dion touched hearts. She epitomized the Olympic spirit with her determination, courage and incomparable talent.”

As the man widely credited with saving the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002, it was not unusual for Mitt Romney to celebrate the spirit of the games. But a lot many people were unhappy with the opening ceremony since drag queens, who some conservative Christians shun, recreated the iconic Last Supper of Jesus Christ. And that the Utah Senator said nothing about that irked a political commentator, who called him a disgrace.

Brett Favre replied saying he agreed 100% with it.

To say that the Olympic opening ceremony stirred deep emotions amongst various people would be an understatement. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, who has been outspoken about his Christian faith and his opposition to transgender rights, was also less than thrilled about the whole thing.

Therefore, Brett Favre is hardly alone in his condemnation. But in addition to that, one can assume that he was never going to be a huge fan of Mitt Romney in any case.

He was not happy that the Democratic Party managed to remove Joe Biden, who was lagging Donald Trump in the polls, as their nominee and elevate, presumably, Kamala Harris. Given how the Utah Senator has also been a thorn in the side of the former President, even though they belong to the same party, that is hardly likely to have pleased the former Packers quarterback.

Mitt Romney will be retiring from his service in the Senate at the end of his term next year. Maybe he will even be involved in the 2034 Olympics that have now been awarded to Salt Lake City. But as he steps away from his political career, it seems unlikely that Brett Favre will ever have any love for the former Republican Governor and Presidential Candidate.
