Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston had the game of his life on Monday Night Football for good and bad reasons.
Winston had 497 passing yards and four touchdowns for the Browns. But he also tossed three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns to give the Denver Broncos 14 points.
It was the full Jameis experience.
Jamies Winston’s first interception against the Broncos came in the second quarter. The pass intended for tight end Jordan Akins landed in the hands of edge rusher Nik Bonitto, who returned it 71 yards, giving Denver a 21-10 lead.
His second one basically ended the game when Broncos cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian leaped to jump Elijah Moore’s route as he got up and ran 44 yards for another touchdown. Cleveland was down 34-32 at the time.
After Monday’s game, which saw Jameis Winston throw for 497 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions, including two returned by Denver for scores, the Browns quarterback knew what his next prayers would be.
“Yeah, I am a better player [than his performance],” Winston said. “It’s an opportunity to continue to glorify the Lord even through the toughest circumstances. I know I’m better than this.”
Jamies Winston then delivered the quote of the year, “I’m just praying to the Lord to deliver me from pick-sixes.”
