NFL Football has been around longer than many of its long-time fans. The NFL is over 100 years old, meaning the league is older than most people, let alone the NFL fans of all 32 of its historic franchises.
The first ever NFL game was played on October 3rd, 1920, and it pitted the Dayton Triangles, out of Dayton, Ohio, against the Columbus Panhandles, a game that would see the host Triangles take a 14-0 win.
Since then, the NFL fans have enjoyed over 100 seasons, nearly 105 to be exact, as the 2024 NFL season is over halfway finished. The game has evolved quite a bit since even the 1940s, as evidenced by some recently found footage.
A video posted to X using MLFootball shows a game between Ohio and Notre Dame. The play shows one of the quarterbacks dropping to throw a pass while nearly avoiding defenders before being intercepted.

Why Do NFL Fans Want The Old Football Back?
After intercepting the ball, the defender can be seen lateraling it to a much larger teammate, who ran the ball all the way back to the opposing endzone for a touchdown. It seems like NFL fans are loving the video.
“Lateral was nasty,” commented one fan.
“That dude was moving,” went another.
“We need more lateral passes in today’s game,” pleaded one fan.
Another fan was surprised, commenting, “What a hit!”
“Like 6 dude got knees shredded,” went one comment.
“My man was flying down the sidelines,” mentioned another.
“Taking knees out in the 40s with no pads is wild,” said another fan.
One fan criticized the league today, adding, “Looks a lot more dope than what I’ve been seeing today in 2024.”
While the game may have changed over the years, it’s clear that many fans want the old version back; however, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever see that version of things again, mainly for player safety.
