(Video) Travis Kelce caught getting frustrated with Patrick Mahomes over incomplete throw during tight Panthers game

Travis Kelce was captured on camera getting frustrated with Patrick Mahomes, who missed him wide open for a simple play against Carolina.

After ruining their perfect nine-game winning streak in the game against the Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs secured a narrow victory against the Carolina Panthers, at 30-27. Along with the surprising struggles of the offense, the game also caught sight of one of those rare moments when Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were out of sync.

The star tight end was captured on camera expressing his frustration towards the elite quarterback, with whom he has connected for 55 touchdowns. Kelce’s irritation arose after Mahomes missed him while he was wide open 10 yards downfield on a simple play.

The three-time Super Bowl MVP rolled to the right, while facing immediate pressure on first-and-10 from the opponent’s 30-yard line. The tight end, who was presumably running a stick route, stopped around night yards downfield to catch the ball, but it was thrown just a yard to his right, resulting in glancing off the tips of his gloves.

As the ball hit the turf, the nine-time Pro Bowler was seen throwing his hands up in frustration after missing the opportunity to make an impressive play. As much tension this created, the two fought through and regained their chemistry to secure the close feat.

While Mahomes threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns, Kelce became the Chiefs’ leader in receptions after logging six catches for 62 yards, while also making history by ranking third for the most receiving yards among tight ends in NFL history.

Travis Kelce’s preseason miscommunication with Patrick Mahomes

After landing the highest-paid tight-end contract, Kelce’s season did not start well this season. And this is not the first miscommunication he and the superstar quarterback have had.

There was another instance in the preseason, when Kelce ran the wrong route, but Mahomes turned it around creatively after throwing a behind-the-back pass to his teammate, resulting in first down.

Long story short, Travis didn’t run the route he was supposed to run, and it was kind of a behind-the-back pass, kind of, because I was mad at him. He was supposed to run a flat route…and he doesn’t run it. Oof spite, I threw a behind-the-back pass but now it’s going to be a highlight.

Patrick Mahomes explained to the reporters later

Being teammates since 2017, Kelce and Mahomes are counted among the elite duos in the NFL as the two handled the entire last season leading the team to a Super Bowl victory, while their offense struggled. Despite their rare sights of struggles, they continue to thrive as a duo, aiming for a historic three-peat.
