Patrick Mahomes‘ teammate Harrison Butker sent a message to Christians as the 2024 U.S. Presidential election heats up. The Kansas City Chiefs kicker has not shied away from expressing his faith, even if that meant getting backlash from some fans.
With voters deciding between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris for the next U.S. President, Butker took to Instagram to share a video urging his fellow Christians to vote. He criticized Harris and reminded viewers that Christian churches have been the target of hundreds of attacks since 2020.
“Christians! Head to the polls today. Vote to keep God in America. Vote President Trump,” he captioned the post.
Butker has been vocal about his political beliefs, especially in the lead-up to the election. In mid-October, he announced the creation of the “UPRIGHT PAC,” an initiative to encourage other Christians to vote in this year’s election.
Before that, he explained why he was behind Donald Trump at a rally held by Missouri state senator Josh Hawley in Parkville. During a Fox News appearance with the senator, Butker discussed his decision to back Trump, saying that the former President was the candidate more focused on pro-life issues.
“Well, I’m supporting, the president that’s going to be the most pro-life president … The most crucial topic for me, I want us to be fighting for the most vulnerable, fighting for the unborn, and that’s what we should prioritize, that’s obviously what Senator Hawley is doing as a man of faith.”
