Social Media Thinks Pope Francis Blessed The NFL’s New Orleans Saints After They Fired Head Coach Dennis Allen

The New Orleans Saints were 2-0 and looking like a team that may make some noise in 2024.

Then the wheels fell off.

The Saints have lost seven straight, including Sunday’s 23-22 defeat against the Carolina Panthers.

That was the straw that broke the camel’s back as the New Orleans Saints would go on to fire head coach Dennis Allen.

Pope Francis may have accidentally blessed the team after that move.

Francis seemed to inadvertently bless them after the head of the Catholic Church posted to X on Tuesday morning: “The #Saints are precious pearls and are always living and relevant because they provide a fascinating commentary on the Gospel.”

He included a hashtag for the word “Saints,” which on X automatically added the team’s logo, a fleur-de-lis.

On Nov. 1, he wished all Catholics a happy All Saints’ Day.

New Orleans fired Coach Dennis Allen a day after a loss at last-place Carolina extended the Saints’ losing streak to seven games — their longest since 1999.

The Saints named special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi the club’s interim coach for the final eight games of the season, which is trending toward a fourth straight season without a playoff berth.

The New Orleans Saints Have Been A Bad Team For Years Now

The New Orleans Saints fired coach Dennis Allen after a 2-7 start this season and named special teams coach Darren Rizzi as the organization’s interim head coach.

The team is in the midst of a fourth-straight bad year.

The franchise has actually finished above .500 in two of the last four but still has not qualified for the postseason.

Now that the team is 2-7, it appears they won’t be headed there yet again.
