Jason Kelce apologizes for viral altercation with fan at Penn State

Jason Kelce opened ESPN’s Monday Night Football coverage with an apology for an incident involving a fan over the weekend at Penn State University.

Kelce responded to a fan who used a homophobic slur about his brother, Travis, in relation to his relationship with Taylor Swift.

Multiple social media videos showed Kelce slamming the fan’s phone down.

In his apology, Kelce said he responded to “hate with hate.”

“I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it,” Kelce said on ESPN. “I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing. I really don’t. I don’t think it leads to discourse, and it’s the right way to go about things. In that moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have.”

Jason Kelce is on hand for coverage of Monday night’s game between the Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
