NFL Fans Are Destroying Cris Collinsworth For Making The Most Absurd Comment That Had Everyone Scratching Their Heads During ‘Sunday Night Football’

NFL fans went in on NBC’s Cris Collinsworth after the veteran sportscaster made a curious comment regarding Sam Darnold on Sunday.

Darnold led the Minnesota Vikings to another win on the night, this time in a ‘Sunday Night Football’ fixture against the Indianapolis Colts that looked like it could have gone either way before the former got a proper hold of it.

The Vikings are 6-2 with Darnold as their starting quarterback this season, with the former New York Jets first-round pick likely to play himself into Pro Bowl selection at the end of the season.

According to Collinsworth, the QB has acclimated to the Minnesota offense because he has a “Midwestern” feel to him; that’s despite Darnold growing up in California, playing for USC, and then the Jets.

Cris Collinsworth Really Turned Fans Off With This One

Fans took to social media to vent after the Collinsworth comment.

“It is so weird for Collinsworth to describe Sam Darnold’s success in Minnesota to be a product of him “feeling Midwestern” (grew up on west coast, played in east and west coast professionally) instead of just talking about how his strengths match the offense,” one wrote.

“We’re getting a classic “I didn’t prep one bit for this game and I’m just making stuff up now” Collinsworth performance,” another joked in response.

“That’s leaning on the required interviews and not watching film this week. It’s like paying attention in class but not doing your homework,” another replied.

“He also said Darnold became the starter after the McCarthy injury,” someone else noted. “Lost in all the Brady discourse is the fact that Collinsworth is a horrifically bad color commentator, he single handedly makes games almost unwatchable.”

The Midwestern theory apparently doesn’t hold much weight. But Darnold is undoubtedly doing something right this season; maybe he was just always this good.
