Texans’ Stefon Diggs gets into heated pregame shoving match with Packers

One of the marquee matchups during the Week 7 NFL slate pits the Houston Texans and the Green Bay Packers against each other. The two teams come in with a combined record of 9-3 and have established themselves as two of the top teams in the league, so the stakes are high.

Tensions flared pregame between the two teams when Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs got into a shoving match with a few Packers players near their sideline.

Diggs might still have some bad blood towards the Packers from his time with the Minnesota Vikings, when Green Bay was his main division rival.

It took some time for Diggs to get acclimated to his new role in Houston after spending a long time as the clear-cut No. 1 receiver with the Buffalo Bills, but his chemistry with C.J. Stroud is growing quickly. Stroud is relying on Diggs a lot right now while star wideout Nico Collins recovers from a hamstring injury and is on injured reserve.

Entering Sunday, Diggs had 48 catches for 392 yards and three touchdowns in six games, and has become a reliable weapon for Stroud and the Texans’ offense working in the underneath and intermediate areas of the field. Stroud has been finding him consistently in recent weeks, as the former Bills star has tallied at least seven targets and 69 yards in each of the last four games.

The Texans offense has been a bit frustrating this season, but it should only be getting better as Stroud and company continue to work Diggs into the fold. The offense has really struggled to run the ball on early downs, meaning Stroud is consistently being asked to be a hero on third-and-long in obvious passing situations. That has worked at times this season due to Stroud’s ability and the talent of the Texans’ pass catchers, but it’s not a sustainable way of moving the ball.
