The Buffalo Bills are currently 4-2 and leading the AFC East. However, even the top team can’t avoid in-season drama, and the Bills may have a problem with safety Damar Hamlin.
During the offseason, Buffalo signed veteran safety Mike Edwards to a one-year $3 million contract. Many thought Edwards would be the starter for the season.
However, in 2024, Edwards has played just seven defensive snaps, which is 3% of the team’s total defense.
He goes into Week 7 of the season questionable after missing practices due to an illness.
Edwards is frustrated with this after a social media user uncovered an interesting tweet he liked.
“Mike Edwards us sick…sick of riding the bench,” said the tweet.

In contrast to Edwards, Hamlin has been on the field for 99% of Buffalo’s snaps on defense, and he hasn’t done amazing.
Through six games, he’s allowed 15 completions on 24 targets for 248 yards and one touchdown for a 93.7 passer rating.
It’s hard for a team to stay focused on winning when its players publicly show that they are not happy while outing the coaching staff and other players.
Damar Hamlin Will Soon Be A Free Agent
2024 is the last season the Hamlin is under his rookie contract with the Bills.
It is hard to imagine that any team offers the safety of a long-term contract because of his performance on the field.
His career projection makes Hamlin look like a future journeyman who can fill in as great depth for most teams but not the every-week starter who earns big money.
Even if that is the case, Hamlin has a great story of overcoming adversity, which he can be proud of.
