The Chiefs tight end is back on the field after spending his summer filming a new TV series and joining Taylor Swift onstage during her Eras Tour
Travis Kelce is bringing back a fan-favorite look as he preps for another NFL season!
On Sunday, July 21, the 34-year-old football star appeared at training camp with his Kansas City Chiefs teammates — and a freshly shaved mustache look — to gear up for the 2024-2025 season.
He stepped onto the field at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph for the open practices, which are slated to go through Aug. 15, per the Chiefs’ website. The team will also play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in its preseason kickoff game on Aug. 10. The regular season begins on Sept. 5, when the Chiefs play the Baltimore Ravens.
In photos and video shared by the Chiefs organization, the star tight end could be seen walking down a path and greeting onlookers. “Thanks for coming out today, guys,” Kelce announced to fans.
The post itself shared by the team came complete with the caption honoring the tight end’s look: “KILLA STACHE IS BACK 👨🏻.”
Plenty of Kelce’s teammates were filmed saying hi to fans at the training camp too, as shared to the Chiefs’ Instagram Stories.
Among them, Mecole Hardman, Jr., Patrick Mahomes and his fellow quarterbacks, Justyn Ross and others walked down to the field to get back into the swing of things. During the camp itself, the Chiefs got rolling with some drills, as one video shared by the team showed Mahomes tossing a football to his friend Kelce.
Mahomes, 28, also poked some fun at fellow QB Carson Wentz, who almost tripped on a turf path on Sunday. “Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me,” Mahomes said in one video, before encouraging the person behind the camera to “post that.”
Kelce’s return to the field comes after the Chiefs won their second-consecutive Super Bowl in February, and the team’s third in five years.
As for his mustache, Kelce has rocked a variety of facial hair looks during his career. As he previously joked on an episode of his New Heights podcast, the mustache is specifically for when he doesn’t “have any paid appearances, or I’m not subject to doing anything where I have to team up with a company and look presentable.”
Ahead of his return to training, Kelce had plenty of new adventures during the off-season.
He jet set to several of his girlfriend Taylor Swift‘s international Eras Tour stops in cities like Paris, Amsterdam and Dublin, and even astonished fans when he hit the stage with the “Fortnite” singer, 34, for her London show at the Wembley Stadium in June.
During her The Tortured Poets Department set, Kelce appeared on stage in a tux and a top hat for Swift’s “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart” outfit change.
Stepping in for the dancer who typically carries the Grammy winner off the stage, Kelce fulfilled his boyfriend duties and carried Swift to a red couch that was center stage. He acted out fixing her makeup, showed off his own dance moves and jokingly reminded her to smile before she continued her show.
His summer also featured a social media collaboration with fellow athlete, LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne for Accelerator Active Energy, where they gave a fun nod to Swift in the video with a joke about Dunne being there for concert tickets.

Kelce also tapped into his acting skills and filmed the upcoming FX Ryan Murphy series Grotesquerie. A source confirmed to PEOPLE in May that Kelce would be joining the series and star Niecy Nash shared hilarious clips of the tight end fitting in with the cast.
He was spotted on set again this month, this time, posing side by side with Murphy in a post shared by Nash. He’ll also have a new fan cheering him on this season as Allison Carr, who appears to be a crew member, uploaded images of the three-time Super Bowl champion smiling with the crew.
“Guess I have to root for the Chiefs now 😌,” she wrote alongside the photos.
