Lions’ Superstar Aidan Hutchinson Speaks For The First Time After Suffering Gruesome Season-Ending Injury

Aidan Hutchinson was in the midst of an all-time season for himself and as a defensive end, and now, it has ended with unfulfilled dreams.

The Detroit Lions earned an impressive 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, but it came at a cost: The team’s top defensive player suffered a gruesome leg injury and had to be carted off.

The play occurred when Hutchinson sacked Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in the third quarter of the game, and as he was doing so, the Lions pass rusher’s left leg whipped into the leg of his teammate Alim McNeill as he rounded the corner.

It was enough to break his leg.

Aidan Hutchinson somehow managed to finish the sack, but he remained down in pain after the play, immediately reaching for his injured left leg.

After going through surgery, the Detroit Lions star edge rusher released a statement.

The inspirational message was posted to Instagram, thanking his supporters while announcing that he is on the road to recovery.

“In light of Aidan’s injury last night, we want to thank you all for the outpouring of love and well wishes,” the statement read. “Your support through this shocking situation means so much to our family.

“We are blessed to share that Aidan’s surgery was a success. Thank you to the doctors and nurses who have taken such good care of him. Aidan wants you all to know that his healing and redemption story has begun. He is holding the motto of Detroit close to his heart: resurget cineribus. He will rise from the ashes.”

Lions Expected to Be ‘Aggressive’ in Finding Aidan Hutchinson Replacement

The Detroit Lions cannot simply replace a talent as great as Aidan Hutchinson, but they can put somebody in his spot.

Hutchinson suffered a fractured tibia and fibula in Sunday’s 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano said this week that he expects the Lions to “be aggressive” in their pursuit of a Hutchinson replacement.

The Lions have yet to officially place a timetable on Hutchinson’s return.
