Coming off a torn ACL suffered in the AFC Championship Game, the defensive end was always expected to miss the early part of the season. Sounds promising, right? Still, patience is key. Albert Breer of\u00a0<em>Sports Illustrated reported<\/em>\u00a0back in August that Omenihu wouldn\u2019t be back until November. And Reid seems to agree.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dom-traversal_domPTag__RMrin\">While the defensive end may be eyeing the\u00a0<a class=\"es-hyperlink-new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.essentiallysports.com\/category\/nfl\/las-vegas-raiders\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Raiders<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0matchup in Week 8, Reid\u2019s cautious approach suggests fans may have to wait until after the bye week to see him back in action. Sure, this is a blow to the\u00a0<a class=\"es-hyperlink-new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.essentiallysports.com\/category\/nfl\/kansas-city-chiefs\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Chiefs\u2019<\/a>\u00a0defense. But so far, so good. And you wouldn\u2019t want a team in form to go about pressing the panic button just yet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dom-traversal_domPTag__RMrin\">Be it with Omenihu\u2019s injury or with Rice\u2019s. Even though the latter sounds huge. Patrick Mahomes and his offense have been making things happen. And Showtime is happy with the backup corps so far.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"dom-traversal_domNewH2__H0HKD\">The real test for Patrick Mahomes in Rashee Rice\u2019s absence?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"dom-traversal_domPTag__RMrin\"><em>\u201cWhen I saw the replay, I felt like s\u2014 that I hit Rashee,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<a class=\"es-hyperlink-new\" href=\"http:\/\/www.essentiallysports.com\/tag\/patrick-mahomes\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Patrick Mahomes<\/a>\u00a0admitted, reflecting on the collision with Rashee Rice that left the young receiver sidelined. Losing Rice, especially after a strong 4-0 start, stings. But in football, there\u2019s no time to dwell. That\u2019s a smart move. The Chiefs have a talented roster, and it\u2019s time for those other receivers to make some noise. It\u2019s like having a full playbook but only running one or two plays.
