Of course, the nerves between coaches and players are high, and apparently, that can be said for referee Clay Martin as well.<\/p>\n<p>During the first quarterback, a play was reviewed to determine whether\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/tag\/josh-allen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Josh Allen<\/a>\u00a0had fumbled the ball inbounds or had already run out when the ball left his hands.<\/p>\n<p>It would go the Bills\u2019 way, as they would keep the ball and even earn a first down on the play.<\/p>\n<p>However, when announcing the decision, Martin had a bizarre slip-up when he said,\u00a0<em>\u201cThe runner was out of bounds before he fumbled the basketball.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">He fumbled the WHAT???\ud83d\ude02 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/foBJgQqYhL\">pic.twitter.com\/foBJgQqYhL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BetOnline (@BetOnline_ag) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BetOnline_ag\/status\/1842985770069745860?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 6, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>A mistake like that wouldn\u2019t go unnoticed, and everyone started commenting on what was just a simple mistake.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201crefs forgot what sport they are officiating and i\u2019m suppose to belive they can make the right calls?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0said one comment.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI don\u2019t know what to think anymore,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>said another.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cno wonder the refs have been so bad. calling over the back instead of PI,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0joked a third.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis is how bad\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/nfl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NFL<\/a>\u00a0officiating is\u2026.,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>added a fourth.<\/p>\n<p>This shows that referees will never be safe in the eyes of the public.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-clay-martin-is-entering-his-9th-year-in-the-nfl\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clay Martin Is Entering His 9th Year In The NFL<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/officials\/MartCl0r.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Martin first joined the NFL as an umpire in 2015<\/a>\u00a0and has quickly raised through the ranks.
