If a player is placed on the IR, they must miss at least four games, but there\u2019s still no timeline on when the reigning rushing champion may return.<\/p>\n<p>During an appearance on the \u201cRoss Tucker Football Podcast\u201d, Ed shared\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/nfl\/article-13926063\/christian-mccaffrey-injury-achilles-tendinitis-san-francisco-49ers-nfl.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more information<\/a>\u00a0on his son\u2019s injury. The elder McCaffrey revealed that Christian suffered his injury from \u201cover-training\u201d and cautioned his son not to overdo it:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cTendinitis is an over-training injury, meaning you\u2019re training too hard or doing too much, and it turns into tendinitis. If I would say that Christian has a weakness, it\u2019s that he sometimes has to protect himself from himself, in terms of training too much and doing too much.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Achilles tendinitis is described by the Mayo Clinic as \u2018an overuse injury of the Achilles tendon, the band of tissue that connects calf muscles at the back of the lower leg to the heel bone.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>With Christian McCaffrey sidelined, Jordan Mason has flourished with an expanded role in the backfield. Last year, Run CMC led the NFL with 2,023 yards of offense and 21 total touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>In the regular season, the 49ers have gone an impressive 22-5 with Christian McCaffrey in the lineup.
