And do you think they\u2019d prefer the league without her!?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"WNBA Is Happy That Caitlin Clark is Finally GONE!?\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pjuS9lDj4Ms?feature=oembed\" width=\"858\" height=\"483\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Connecticut Sun eliminate Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever from WNBA playoffs<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">Alyssa Thomas\u00a0and the\u00a0Connecticut Sun\u00a0were happy to finally close out an opening round series at home in two games.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">Thomas had 19 points and 13 assists to help the Sun sweep rookie sensation\u00a0Caitlin Clark\u00a0and the\u00a0Indiana Fever out of the playoffs with an 87-81 win Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">Since the league changed its playoff format in 2022, the Sun have needed to win a decisive third game on the road in the first round to advance, which they did both years. This time, they were able to do it at home.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">\u201cFinally locked in and took advantage of homecourt advantage,\u201d said Thomas, who had a triple-double in the Game 1 win. \u201cWe\u2019re ready. Tested tonight and it wasn\u2019t pretty, but that\u2019s the nature of playoffs. We pulled out a gutsy win. We\u2019re hungry and ready. \u2026 We\u2019re ready for what the playoff journey is going to unfold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">The third-seeded Sun will now face Minnesota in the semifinals, which begin Sunday.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">Clark played much better in Game 2 than she did in\u00a0her postseason debut Sunday. The AP Rookie of the Year finished with 25 points and nine assists, but it wasn\u2019t enough.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">\u201cObviously it\u2019s a tough one, especially as we climbed all the way back in and just to have our opportunities late,\u201d Clark said.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">Aliyah Boston\u00a0added 16 points and 19 rebounds. Her layup with 2:05 left gave Indiana a 77-75 advantage but\u00a0DeWanna Bonner, who was playing in her WNBA record matching 82nd playoff game to match Lindsay Whalen, answered with a 3-pointer 14 seconds later.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">Neither team scored on their next few possessions until\u00a0Marina Mabrey\u00a0hit a 3-pointer from the wing with 45.5 seconds left to give the Sun an 81-77 lead.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">Kelsey Mitchell\u00a0missed a 3 on the Fever\u2019s next possession and the Sun sealed the game from the foul line.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">Trailing by seven at the half, the Fever scored the first seven points of the third quarter to tie the game. With 1:29 left in the quarter after a foul, Clark\u00a0pointed out a fan sitting in the second row\u00a0to an official, who called security over and had the man escorted to the back. The fan later returned and there were no further incidents.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">The run continued to start the second as Connecticut went up 26-16 on Carrington\u2019s layup with 7:32 left in the half. The Sun led 41-34 at intermission. Carrington was honored before the game as the league\u2019s\u00a0Most Improved Player.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">On the last play of the half,\u00a0Erica Wheeler\u00a0went in for a layup trying to beat the buzzer and went flying into the courtside photographers. She was down for a few minutes before getting up and walking back to the locker room. She had her left thumb looked at and didn\u2019t return in the second half.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">Clark finished the half with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists.<\/p>\n<p data-v-e165f65a=\"\">The Sun were missing starting guard\u00a0Tyasha Harris, who injured her ankle in Sunday\u2019s win.
