Harrison Butker<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0proved that a little controversy can be good for business.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kansas City Chiefs kicker, who drew outrage for his inflammatory commencement address earlier this year, sold more NFL-licensed gear this spring than teammate\u00a0Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Butker, 29, ranked No. 11 on\u00a0the NFL Players Association\u2019s player sales list<\/a>, released Tuesday, September, 17, which tracked sales of\u00a0<\/span>adult and youth game jerseys, T-shirts, hoodies, bobbleheads, pet products and more between March 1 and May 31.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kelce, 34, ranked one spot below Butker at No. 12.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback\u00a0Patrick Mahomes<\/strong>\u00a0came in at No. 2, behind top seller\u00a0C.J. Stroud<\/strong>, quarterback for the Houston Texans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Butker appeared on the list for the first time, becoming just the second placekicker in history to rank inside the top 50, following the Cincinnati Bengals\u2019\u00a0Evan McPherson<\/strong>\u00a0in 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During his speech at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas on May 11, Butker\u00a0called on women<\/a>\u00a0to embrace the role of \u201chomemaker\u201d and equated Pride Month to a \u201cdeadly sin.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Butker alleged that \u201cdiabolical lies\u201d are told to modern-day women, arguing, \u201cSome of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A Change.org petition to have Butker dismissed from the team garnered over 260k signatures. Instead, the Chiefs gave Butker with a new four-year, $26.5 million contract in August, making him\u00a0the highest-paid kicker<\/a>\u00a0in NFL history.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Elsewhere on the list, the Detroit Lions\u2019\u00a0Aidan Hutchinson<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Amon-Ra St. Brown<\/strong>\u00a0and the Bengals\u2019\u00a0Joe Burrow<\/strong>\u00a0rounded out the top five, in that order.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the success of their run to the NFC Championship Game last season, Hutchinson jumped 15 spots from the year-end list, while St. Brown leapt a massive 29 spots.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The rest of the 10 included, in order, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback\u00a0Jalen Hurts<\/strong>, Eagles running back\u00a0Saquon Barkley<\/strong>, Lions running back\u00a0Jahmyr Gibbs<\/strong>, Dallas Cowboys linebacker\u00a0Micah Parsons<\/strong>\u00a0and San Francisco 49ers quarterback\u00a0Brock Purdy<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Also of note, New York Jets quarterback\u00a0Aaron Rodgers<\/strong>\u00a0ranked No. 13, Buffalo Bills quarterback\u00a0Josh Allen<\/strong>\u00a0ranked No. 16, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback\u00a0Russell Wilson<\/strong>\u00a0ranked No. 18 and Lions quarterback\u00a0Jared Goff<\/strong>\u00a0ranked No. 19.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
