Patrick Mahomes has\u00a0refused to be drawn into a presidential endorsement\u00a0despite his wife Brittany and\u00a0Taylor Swift\u00a0speaking out.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0quarterback has found himself in the middle of a relationship between Swift and Brittany that was suggested to be politically fractious. It had been rumored that the friendship between the two was damaged after they both watched the Chiefs\u2019\u00a0NFL\u00a0opener against the\u00a0Baltimore Ravens\u00a0from\u00a0different boxes\u00a0\u2013 a stark contrast from last season where they appeared almost inseparable.<\/p>\n

However, those murmurs appear to have been put to bed after\u00a0Swift and Brittany were seen hugging\u00a0at the\u00a0U.S. Open\u00a0final on Sunday before heading on a double date with their Chiefs partners. Brittany has faced online backlash for her apparent support of Republican candidate\u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0after liking numerous Instagram posts from Trump outlining his policies.<\/p>\n

Mahomes\u00a0previously spoke out in a political sense when he joined\u00a0LeBron James\u2019 \u2018More Than a Vote\u2019 campaign in a bid to increase African American voter turnout in the 2020 election. Although he didn\u2019t publicly endorse a candidate four years ago, and he appears to be doing the same thing this time around.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president,\u201d Mahomes said in an interview with\u00a0TIME magazine published last month. \u201cI want people to use their voice, whoever they believe in. I want them to do the research.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you haven\u2019t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cRecently I was made aware that AI of \u2018me\u2019 falsely endorsing Donald Trump\u2019s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman\u2019s right to her own body for decades.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swift concluded her post, adding: \u201cI\u2019ve done my research, and I\u2019ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it\u2019s much easier to vote early. I\u2019ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.\u201d She signed her statement \u201cwith love and hope, Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,\u201d mocking a comment that Trump\u2019s Vice President pick JD Vance made in 2021 when he said \u201cchildless cat ladies\u201d were running America.<\/p>\n
