Former President Donald Trump responded to Taylor Swift\u2019s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday after the \u201cTortured Poets Department\u201d singer backed the Democratic nominee.<\/p>\n
Trump was asked about Swift\u2019s statement in the spin room, an area where reporters are able to ask candidates and their surrogates questions after a debate. He replied, \u201cI have no idea.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shortly after the presidential debate ended Tuesday night, Swift shared a photo of her with her cat, Benjamin Button, to Instagram and wrote in the caption that she will be supporting Harris and Tim Walz. Swift also acknowledged Trump\u2019s use of AI-generated images depicting her endorsing him and said it made her realize she needed to be clear about her actual plans for the election. The pop star signed off the post labeling herself a \u201cChildless Cat Lady,\u201d taking a jab at JD Vance\u2019s now-viral comments about people who don\u2019t have children.<\/p>\n
In the four-paragraph endorsement, Swift encouraged her 283 million followers to do their own research ahead of the election this fall and to vote.<\/p>\n
\u201cLike many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven\u2019t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most,\u201d Swift wrote. \u201cAs a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Fox & Friends the next morning, Trump said he prefers Swift\u2019s friend and MAGA fan Brittany Mahomes, who is the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who entered the singer\u2019s social circle when she began dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce last year.<\/p>\n
In a Truth Social post last week, Trump thanked Mahomes for her apparent support of his campaign after she reportedly liked and un-liked one of his posts detailing the 2024 GOP platform on Instagram. She also reportedly liked and un-liked a comment that simply said \u201cTRUMP-VANCE 2024\u201d on one of her Instagram posts.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Swift) seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she\u2019ll probably pay a price for it at the \u2014 in the marketplace. But, no, I like Brittany,\u201d Trump said Wednesday. \u201cThat\u2019s the one I like, much better than Taylor Swift\u2026 I think she\u2019s terrific. Not Taylor Swift.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not the first time Swift has backed a political candidate. She endorsed President Joe Biden and Harris in 2020, and she backed U.S. Senate candidate Phil Bredesen and U.S. Rep.
