McCaskey, is the one ultimately calling most of the shots\u2026<\/p>\n<p>And\u2026 let\u2019s just say that it doesn\u2019t typically go well for him or the rest of the McCaskey clan.<\/p>\n<p>The Bears\u2014despite inhabiting one of the largest metropolitan areas and serving one of the largest markets in the game, with a diehard fanbase to boot\u2014are regularly run like a mom-and-pop shop!<\/p>\n<p>The McCaskey\u2019s entire family fortune is tied up in the team, so they don\u2019t have the financial flexibility that some of the other owners around the NFL\u2014many of which are backed by massive groups with significant resources\u2014do.<\/p>\n<p>And the folks in charge in Chicago continue to make the same boneheaded mistakes year in and year out.<\/p>\n<p>It does look like they are starting to turn the page\u00a0<em>ever so slightly\u00a0<\/em>with the latest regime that they put in charge of football ops\u2026 but\u2026 I don\u2019t know. Art Rooney Sr. founded the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1933. Initially named the Pittsburgh Pirates, the team was, as we know, later renamed the Steelers to reflect\u2014you guessed it\u2014the city\u2019s deep ties to the steel industry.<\/p>\n<p>The team struggled in its early years, but once Rooney Sr. Hired Chuck Noll to lead the team on the sidelines, everything changed. (Photo by Carmen Mandato\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Cleveland Browns aren\u2019t exactly the pinnacle of success in the NFL, but it is hard to argue that their fortunes haven\u2019t somehow gotten worse since Jimmy Haslam purchased the team in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>He is the prototypical \u201cimpulsive\u201d rich-guy owner and his rash decision making has continued to cause issues for the team.<\/p>\n<p>He fired Tom Heckert as General Manager and Pat Shurmur as head coach after taking over the team\u2014instead hiring Michael Lombardi and Rod Chudzinski to assume those roles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"pw-ad-scroll-container pw-clearfix\" data-pw-in-article=\"true\">\n<div class=\"pw-ad-container-logo\">\n<p>They make it all of one year.<\/p>\n<p>The next duo, Ray Farmer and Mike Pettine? They make it two years.<\/p>\n<p>This is just one example of a long line of terrible decisions made by Haslam. (Photo by Mike Carlson\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After finally getting over the hump and capturing a long-awaited Super Bowl for the City of Brotherly Love, it became official\u2026 Jeffrey Lurie established himself as one of the best owners in the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>Ever since his tenure began in the mid-90s, the Eagles have largely fostered a culture of success and stability within the Philadelphia Eagles organization.<\/p>\n<p>Lurie\u2019s success stems from his strategic approach to leadership and management. He has a keen eye for hiring the right personnel at the right time. Stroud, but, frankly\u2014really basic stuff\u2026 like his inability to get along with other execs or his coaches.<\/p>\n<p>Or his unwillingness\u00a0<em>not\u00a0<\/em>to pour drinks on his own fan\u2019s head!<\/p>\n<p>You are the owner of an NFL franchise, my man! Get it together!<\/p>\n<p>Not to mention that this is a guy who is supposed to be some epic-deal-making financier, yet his failed practice facility project in Rock Hill, South Carolina, resulted in a massive loss for the organization and no practice site for the team!<\/p>\n<p>Court documents say Tepper\u2019s company \u2014 GT Real Estate Holdings \u2014 spent $282 million on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsoctv.com\/news\/local\/newly-released-financial-records-show-trouble-behind-panthers-failed-rock-hill-facility\/WM2RHX6S2NCRVPEBQ7XFPM6MSU\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">now-defunct facility<\/a>\u00a0and claimed it would take another $500 million to finish the project.<\/p>\n<p>Tough.<\/p>\n<p>All things considered,\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/tag\/david-tepper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Tepper<\/a>\u00a0might be one of the worst owners in the NFL today! (Photo by Rob Carr\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Steve Bisciotti is easily among the top in the league when it comes to running a professional organization.<\/p>\n<p>Off the field, Bisciotti is highly respected for his player-centric philosophy.<\/p>\n<p>Year in and year out, he continues to invest in top-notch facilities and support systems for his most valuable asset, so much so that the franchise is regularly recognized across the league.<\/p>\n<p>His commitment to creating a positive work environment has been instrumental in attracting and retaining top talent. (Photo by Steph Chambers\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/tag\/robert-kraft\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robert Kraft<\/a>\u00a0is widely regarded as one of the best owners in the NFL, thanks to his transformative impact on the New England Patriots since purchasing the team in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>Save the last few seasons post Tom Brady\u2026 his ownership turned the Patriots from a laughingstock to the model of sustained success and excellence in the league.<\/p>\n<p>Kraft\u2019s decision to hire head coach Bill Belichick away from the rival New York Jets in 2000 was a masterstroke, leading to an unprecedented era of dominance.<\/p>\n<p>Together, Kraft and Belichick\u2014and soon Brady\u2014would build a dynasty spanning two decades, during which they won six Super Bowl titles and consistently competed at the highest level.<\/p>\n<p>Kraft\u2019s commitment to creating a winning culture extends beyond just the front office.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, he has invested heavily in state-of-the-art facilities and support systems, ensuring that players and staff have the resources they need to succeed.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, things aren\u2019t quite what they used to be in Foxborough, but the fact that Kraft was able to have sustained success at the level he did for as long as he did is a marvel in and of itself!<\/p>\n<p>It wouldn\u2019t be right to publish a list of the top five owners in the NFL and leave him off\u2026 Not yet, at least! (Photo by Steph Chambers\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Since assuming control of the Seattle Seahawks following her brother, Paul Allen\u2019s, death in 2018, Jody Allen\u2019s leadership has raised concerns about the franchise\u2019s direction and future.<\/p>\n<p>Despite once being regarded as one of the top organizations in the league operationally\u2014the Seahawks have begun to lag behind other franchises in terms of player support systems and amenities, contributing to a less-than-optimal environment for players and staff.<\/p>\n<p>Jody\u2014or whoever she appointed to handle key personnel decisions\u2014has also really struggled.<\/p>\n<p>Say, for example, the abrupt firing of longtime head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider, who were instrumental in the team\u2019s Super Bowl victory and responsible for a decade-plus long span of the best football that the organization had ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, the play on the field had started to decline in recent years, but that was largely due to the organization dysfunction and their inability to execute in the front office more so than Carroll\u2019s ability to run the show on the field.<\/p>\n<p>It is a tough state of affairs in the Pacific Northwest\u2026 Even the 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Man, the moniker for the Seahawks\u2019 generally extraordinarily passionate fanbase, has grown increasingly disillusioned with the team\u2019s direction and the ownership\u2019s inability to provide a clear path forward.<\/p>\n<p>And unfortunately\u2026 there is no end in sight for the mess up there.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The\u00a0NFL\u00a0has become big business in the last 25 years\u2014and the team owners are at the top of the pyramid.
