Beyonc\u00e9 has some people excited about country\u00a0\u00a0music.<\/p>\n

In a genre that\u00a0has long been at the center of debate for its lack of diversity,\u00a0the superstar\u2019s\u00a0\u201cAct II: Cowboy Carter\u201d album\u00a0is not just stirring conversation, but also piquing interest about Black country artists.<\/p>\n

While Beyonc\u00e9 has asserted that her latest effort \u201cain\u2019t a Country album,\u201d the genre\u2019s influence can\u2019t be denied \u2013 from the singer\u2019s recent cowgirl fashion aesthetic, to the Bey-ified cover of Dolly Parton\u2019s classic \u201cJolene,\u201d to the inclusion of Black country artists like Tanner Adell, Willie Jones, Tiera Kennedy, Linda Martell, Reyna Roberts, Brittney Spencer and alt-country artist Shaboozey.<\/p>\n

But they aren\u2019t the only ones whose careers could benefit from Queen Bey\u2019s entrance into country\u00a0\u00a0music. They say a rising tide lifts all boats, and here are just a few of the artists who could potentially ride the wave of attention now being paid to Black performers seeking to make their mark in country music.<\/p>\n

The BoykinZ\"The<\/p>\n

This\u00a0quartet of singing sisters\u00a0from the suburbs outside of Atlanta can already count Kelly Clarkson and Shania Twain as fans.<\/p>\n

After going viral on TikTok for their tight harmonies and energetic dance moves, the young women\u00a0were treated to a surprise meeting with Twain\u00a0during an appearance on Clarkson\u2019s daytime talk show last year. Twain took the opportunity to invite them to join her on stage at the CMT Awards.<\/p>\n

\u201cI invited them to do a little acappella piece with me tonight, just as part of my exchange of supporting upcoming young female artists, people that might, in this day and age, be excluded,\u201d Twain\u00a0told People at the time.<\/p>\n

These days, the group couldn\u2019t be more excited about Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s new album and the buzz it\u2019s created.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s such a beautiful thing, honestly,\u201d Kylan Boykin, 22, told CNN. \u201cWe listened to the album, and we\u2019re just stunned by what she did. Her creativity is on a whole other level and we believe it\u2019s opening doors for artists like ourselves to be just as creative and to do whatever we want in this genre.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her 19-year-old sister and fellow group member Nytere Boykin said she understands why Beyonc\u00e9 made it clear that \u201cCowboy Carter\u201d is not a traditional country album.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love what she did. Each and every song has a uniqueness to it, and it wasn\u2019t true to one genre,\u201d Nytere Boykin said.<\/p>\n

The pair, along with their sisters Anale, 21, and Alona, 17, are working on their debut album and are feeling inspired.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Beyonc\u00e9] did what she wanted to do and it\u2019s so inspiring,\u201d Kylan Boykin added. \u201cI think it speaks to everybody in many different ways that you can do whatever you want to do and not to hold back and limit yourself to what people think you should be doing, no matter your race, where you come from, your size or anything so that\u2019s awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n

RVSHVD\"RVSHVD<\/p>\n

RVSHVD (pronounced Ra-shad) is another Georgia native who is making his way in the country\u00a0\u00a0music\u00a0industry.<\/p>\n

His songs like \u201cHit Different,\u201d \u201cFor The Streets\u201d and\u00a0\u201cSmall Town Talk\u201d\u00a0blend a hip-hop influence with his obvious love of country.<\/p>\n

Last year, the artist born Clint Rashad Johnson\u00a0told Billboard\u00a0it all started for him when he heard Keith Urban\u2019s 2009 hit \u201cSweet Thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018Okay, that ain\u2019t bad.\u2019 My dad would listen to all kinds of music \u2014 Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, gospel. He did all kinds of jobs, and had me out working with him, washing cars and hauling scraps,\u201d he said. \u201cHe would listen to country while he worked. He tried to get me to listen to country, and I didn\u2019t like it at first.\u201d<\/p>\n

After discovering artists like Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker and Florida Georgia Line, he was locked in and on his way.<\/p>\n

RVSHVD is also making beautiful\u00a0\u00a0music\u00a0with his wife, Angel Rewis-Johnson.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s credited as a writer on his playful and irreverent Christmas carol, \u201cMy Tree.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ashlie Amber\"Ashlie<\/p>\n

Ashlie Amber\u00a0may not have won a TV competition meant to open doors for underrepresented country artists, but she\u2019s definitely winning fans.<\/p>\n

The singer was one of the contestants last year on the Apple TV+ reality music competition series \u201cMy Kind of Country\u201d which was executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves.<\/p>\n

Black country artists Jimmie Allen and Mickey Guyton, as well as country artist Orville Peck, served as scouts who set out to \u201chand-pick a roster of exceptional up-and-coming artists and invite them to the home of country\u00a0\u00a0music\u00a0in Nashville, Tennessee, to showcase their unique sound.\u201d<\/p>\n

Micaela Kleinsmith was ultimately selected as the champion, but the show gave added visibility\u00a0to Amber, who\u00a0had worked in the industry for more than a decade and appeared on the 2012 Season of \u201cAmerican Idol.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer-songwriter was\u00a0asked recently by the Instagram account Black Country Music\u00a0about Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s possible effect on country music for\u00a0people of color\u00a0replied \u201cIt\u2019s about damn time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s important for people to know that there are incredibly talented Black women that have been in the trenches and that have been fighting to be seen in country\u00a0\u00a0music,\u201d she said. \u201cBut it\u2019s such a hard genre to crack.\u201d<\/p>\n

Country music, she added, is a \u201cclose-knit community\u201d that tends to celebrate \u201ca very specific type of artist.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt had to take somebody like Beyonc\u00e9 because Beyonc\u00e9 answers to nobody,\u201d Amber said. \u201cBeyonc\u00e9 is the queen bee. She is a icon of icons. It had to take someone like Beyonc\u00e9 to finally be like \u2018You know what? Naw. This ain\u2019t gonna work for me anymore.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Twins Derek Campbell and Brandon Campbell are fighting for inclusivity in country\u00a0\u00a0music\u00a0in more ways than one.<\/p>\n

The brothers, who are gay,\u00a0told GLAAD last year: \u201cIt\u2019s taken a while but we\u2019ve found other creatives and fans that see our vision and do what they can to help fulfill that and make us feel safe and at home.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2022, the Versailles, Kentucky-natives had their single\u00a0\u201cWhatever You\u2019re Up For\u201d\u00a0dubbed \u201cthe most compelling commercial-country slow jam of the year\u201d\u00a0by Rolling Stone magazine.<\/p>\n

The brothers are determined to break through in Nashville.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, waking up and going at it being who we are every day is no different than waking up our whole lives being Black and gay in America, so it\u2019s not anything that we aren\u2019t used to,\u201d Derek Campbell\u00a0told WSMV4 last year.\u00a0\u201cSo we just stay in the face of it every day, keep riding, keep getting through it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyonc\u00e9 has given us a cover of \u201cJolene,\u201d but a few years ago, Chapel Hart dropped\u00a0\u201cYou Can Have Him Jolene.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trio \u2013 made up of sisters Danica and Devynn Hart and cousin Trea Swindle \u2013 are independent artists who may be recognizable from their golden buzzer moment and fifth place finish on \u201cAmerica\u2019s Got Talent\u201d in 2022.<\/p>\n

The original song they auditioned with on that show provides an \u201cupdate\u201d to Parton\u2019s classic and won approval from the legend herself.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a fun new take on my song, @ChapelHartBand!\u201d\u00a0Parton wrote on X in 2022.<\/p>\n

While women, who hail from Mississippi and Louisiana, are familiar with the challenges of being artists of color, they maintain that their goal is to make tunes they love.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re just country artists, and it wasn\u2019t until later people were saying you\u2019re breaking barriers, and we didn\u2019t realize that was a thing, because our focus is the music\u201d Swindle\u00a0recently told News Channel 5 Nashville.<\/p>\n
