Megan Rapinoe wants to see Colin Kaepernick at the 2028 Olympics \u2014 and not just playing flag football.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The former United States women\u2019s national team star told her\u00a0\u201cA Touch More\u201d podcast\u00a0co-host and fianc\u00e9e Sue Bird on Wednesday that he should have a high honor when the Games come to Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would love to see Colin be able to represent America in an Olympics. I think that would be an unbelievably special moment,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s my flag-bearer. I think that would be really incredible to have that representation of America also be front and center at an Olympics. That would be really cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

The quarterback, who hasn\u2019t taken a snap since the 2016 season with the 49ers, has long sought a way back into the NFL after his kneeling during the anthem made him a hotly contested player.<\/p>\n

Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh recently revealed he offered Kaepernick, 36, a spot on his coaching staff, and said his former San Francisco quarterback\u00a0was \u201cconsidering it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf that was ever the path he was to take, I think that would be tremendous,\u201d Harbaugh told USA Today. \u201cHe\u2019d be a tremendous coach, if that\u2019s the path he chose.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nKaepernick, however, told Sky Sports this month that he\u2019d love to go for the gold in L.A.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re gonna work on some things, see if we can make it in there, but would love to be out there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Count Rapinoe, who also garnered plenty of headlines for her kneeling and\u00a0social justice activism, among those backing for a Kaepernick Olympics appearance with the non-tackle squad.<\/p>\n
