Just days before Kyle Busch\u2019s tragic death, he and his family celebrated his young son\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n
Busch died Thursday, NASCAR confirmed, just hours after the race car driver\u2019s family said he was\u00a0hospitalized due to a \u201csevere illness.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was 41.<\/p>\n

Just three days before his passing, Busch took to Instagram to fete his son, Brexton, for his 11th birthday.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cHappy Birthday Brexton!!! Your mom & I are so proud of who you\u2019re turning out to be! You\u2019re the best kid on & off the track, you amaze us every day. Keep doing what you\u2019re doing and there is no limit to what you\u2019ll accomplish! Love you buddy!\u201d Busch wrote in the caption of his photo carousel on Instagram. Brexton, like his dad, is a racer.<\/p>\n

Busch is one of the most accomplished drivers in NASCAR history. He won the 2009 Nationwide Series and twice took home the Cup Series title (2015, 2019).<\/p>\n
Earlier Thursday, three days before Sunday\u2019s Coca-Cola 600, Busch\u2019s family announced that he was pulling out of the race and was being hospitalized with an unspecified health issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cKyle has experienced a severe illness resulting in hospitalization,\u201d the statement read. \u201cHe is currently undergoing treatment and will not compete in any of his scheduled activities this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. We ask for understanding and privacy as our family navigates this situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shortly before 6 p.m. ET, NASCAR announced that Busch had died.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport\u2019s greatest and fiercest drivers,\u201d NASCAR wrote in a statement. \u201cHe was 41 years old. We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.\u201d<\/p>\n
During a May 10 race at Watkins Glen,\u00a0Busch radioed for medical help, asking for a \u201cshot\u201d after the race.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, one day after winning the ECOSAVE 200 at Dover Motor Speedway in the Craftsman Truck Series, Busch said he was still not feeling \u201cgreat.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can still kinda hear it, I\u2019m still not great,\u201d he said when asked about the medical call. \u201cThe cough was pretty substantial last week.\u201d<\/p>\n
Busch is survived by his wife, Samantha, son, Brexton, and daughter, Lennix.<\/p>\n
