On the optimistic end of this spectrum, this would see the former Texas Tech standout be ready for either Week 1 or Week 2 in 2026. Both dates would be considered a great success on the part of Mahomes and KC\u2019s medical team.<\/p>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">But, if there are complications in his rehab process, or his body simply does not heal as fast from the tears as the staff would hope, the team could see him miss more than half the season.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_6\" data-google-query-id=\"CKby7Jj495EDFfOHpgMdfhQIPw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/22751588535,23055578086\/CafeX\/Feji.io_Banner_Responsive_6_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">The silver lining perhaps for the Chiefs would be that due to his position on the field, Mahomes\u2019 bar to recovery is lower than that of other players who require more lower body range of motion, such as\u00a0Micah Parsons\u00a0of the\u00a0Green Bay Packers, who tore his ACL on the same weekend as the Chiefs\u2019 QB.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_7\" data-google-query-id=\"CKfy7Jj495EDFfOHpgMdfhQIPw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/22751588535,23055578086\/CafeX\/Feji.io_Banner_Responsive_7_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Will The Chiefs Look For Another QB In The Offseason?<\/h2>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">No one worth their weight in salt would stand up and propose that Kansas City might genuinely replace Mahomes.<\/p>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">But given his injury, and then the subsequent knee injury suffered by veteran backup and certified baller,\u00a0Gardner Minshew, the Chiefs were forced to turn to\u00a0Chris Oladokun, who managed just 235 yards passing over the course of the final three games of the season.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_8\" data-google-query-id=\"CKjy7Jj495EDFfOHpgMdfhQIPw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/22751588535,23055578086\/CafeX\/Feji.io_Banner_Responsive_8_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">The draft, especially the mid-late rounds, could certainly make sense as a spot for the Chiefs to draft a player they believe can be Patrick Mahomes\u2019 backup for the next few years.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_9\" data-google-query-id=\"CKny7Jj495EDFfOHpgMdfhQIPw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/22751588535,23055578086\/CafeX\/Feji.io_Banner_Responsive_9_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">In the meantime, if news starts to go foul on Mahomes\u2019 progress, it would not be shocking to see the Chiefs sign a well-known veteran backup in free agency.<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2>Saints Found Their Franchise QB. After about half the season, head coach Kellen Moore made the decision to start Shough for the remainder of the campaign.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_12\" data-google-query-id=\"CKzy7Jj495EDFfOHpgMdfhQIPw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/22751588535,23055578086\/CafeX\/Feji.io_Banner_Responsive_12_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ac_111269183\" class=\"article_chunk type_50\">\n<div class=\"froala-view custom-theme first_text_block\">\n<p>Shough quickly burst onto the scene and helped the Saints win a lot of games down the stretch.<\/p>\n<p>Bleacher Report&#8217;s Brent Sobleski recently graded the\u00a0Saints quarterback play as a &#8220;B&#8221;\u00a0on the season and shared a lot of praise for Shough going forward.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_13\" data-google-query-id=\"CK3y7Jj495EDFfOHpgMdfhQIPw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/22751588535,23055578086\/CafeX\/Feji.io_Banner_Responsive_13_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Tyler Shough already emerging as a franchise quarterback for the Saints<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ac_111269185\" class=\"article_chunk type_50\">\n<div class=\"froala-view custom-theme\">\n<p>&#8220;The New Orleans Saints exceeded expectations in nearly every single way during the 2025 campaign, with rookie quarterback Tyler Shough being the primary reason why,&#8221; Sobleski wrote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_14\" data-google-query-id=\"CK7y7Jj495EDFfOHpgMdfhQIPw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/22751588535,23055578086\/CafeX\/Feji.io_Banner_Responsive_14_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;The Saints were consensus favorites to be the NFL&#8217;s worst team this past season. Instead, the squad improved to 6-11 after finishing 5-12 a year earlier. The movement may not seem like much, but New Orleans&#8217; roster looked terrible on paper. His wide receiver core was one of the worst units in the league after trading Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. The running back room was greatly crushed with injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the young quarterback shined bright. The Saints have already found their franchise quarterback.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Saints QB\u2019s \u201cSuper Bowl Next Year\u201d message comes with real pressure<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Shough had a chance to author a season-ending comeback in Atlanta, and he almost did.<\/p>\n<p>He finished with 259 passing yards, a touchdown pass and a rushing TD, but his late red-zone interception to Falcons defensive back\u00a0Dee Alford sealed the Saints\u2019 loss.<\/p>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">Still, the postgame tone from Shough wasn\u2019t \u201cwhat went wrong,\u201d as much as \u201cwhat\u2019s next.\u201d He framed the finale as tape, reps, and a launching point, and said he wants the Saints playing meaningful football late next season.<\/p>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">Saints head coach Kellen Moore backed that up, praising Shough\u2019s growth and ability to respond after mistakes, a key theme as New Orleans heads into an offseason full of decisions.
