Tom Brady made some horrible decisions that doomed the 2025 Raiders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tom Brady<\/a>\u00a0may be the most accomplished\u00a0NFL<\/a>\u00a0player of all time, but he certainly has some work to do when it comes to managing a football team.<\/p>\n

Expectations were raised for the\u00a0Las Vegas Raiders<\/a>\u00a0this year after a busy offseason. Tom Brady, now a minority owner of the Raiders, worked closely with\u00a0Mark Davis<\/a>\u00a0to rebuild the team into a winner.<\/p>\n

The three big moves were: a) hiring\u00a0Pete Carroll<\/a>\u00a0as head coach, b) trading for\u00a0Pro Bowl<\/a>\u00a0quarterback Geno Smith, and c) drafting Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 pick. Hindsight is 20\/20, but Vegas would have definitely accepted a mulligan on all three moves if given the opportunity.<\/p>\n

A new report from Dianna Russini of\u00a0The Athletic<\/a><\/em>\u00a0paints a worse picture of Tom Brady as an owner. According to Russini, the Raiders counted on Brady to bring in better coach and quarterback options than Carroll and Smith:<\/p>\n

\u201cInside the building, people believed Brady would lure the hottest coaching candidates on the market, like (Ben) Johnson or (Mike) Vrabel \u2014 names every owner coveted last offseason. They landed instead on 74-year-old Pete Carroll,\u00a0who brought along his sons Nate and Brennan, both offensive assistants.\u201d<\/p>\n

Players thought Brady would deliver Matthew Stafford after a long ski-slope conversation last offseason. He missed. Then Brady shot down Sam Darnold as an option. Another miss.<\/p>\n

Brady pushed for offensive coordinator Chip Kelly to inject pace and creativity into the team\u2019s play calling. They made him the highest-paid offensive coordinator in football. He\u2019s no longer with the team. The rookie class isn\u2019t carrying its weight. Nothing has landed the way it was sold.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

With a 24-17 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday, the Raiders are now 2-11.<\/p>\n

Chip Kelly was fired<\/a>\u00a0two weeks ago after a loss to the Cleveland Browns. Sam Darnold is having a lights-out year with the Seahawks. One of Vrabel or Johnson will likely win Coach of the Year honors.<\/p>\n

All Raiders fans can do is hope that Brady can learn from his mistakes and shortcomings. It was only year one for him as a team owner, after all. And most first-year owners\/executives don\u2019t experience success in their first year.<\/p>\n

Brady\u2019s first big decision will be deciding if Carroll and\/or GM John Spytek should return in 2026. With the way the Raiders are playing, the answer feels like an easy no.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
