\nOn the Wednesday, Nov. 19 broadcast of the popular talk show, co-hosts Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, former White House staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin, political strategist Ana Navarro and Joy Behar discussed the potential release of files related to the investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg was absent for the episode.
\nThe View cast have previously been critical of President Donald Trump.
\nAt the top of the episode, Behar, 83, noted that “it was a very busy and shockingly productive day in Washington” as the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill ordering the release of the Epstein files in a 427-1 vote, which was then unanimously approved by the Senate.<\/p>\n

The co-hosts spoke on the topic for an extended period, with Haines, 48, expressing that the release of the files “might be the thing that breaks” Trump after some members of the Republican Party, including Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, have spoken out against him on the subject.
\nGriffin, meanwhile, noted that “the American public was ahead of where Congress was” regarding the Epstein files, “and forced them to do the right thing.” Later, Hostin, 57, discussed the severity of the files, saying, “These are the files from a child predator and a child predator ring. If we can\u2019t be bipartisan on that, what can we be bipartisan on?”
\nFollowing the broadcast, the White House released a statement to Entertainment Weekly, calling the co-hosts “Trump-deranged wackos” in response to their commentary.
\nWhite House spokesperson Abigail Jackson\u00a0said, per EW, that the co-hosts of “The View should start asking their Democrat friends \u2014 like Stacey Plaskett and Hakeem Jeffries \u2014 why they were soliciting money and sending dinner invites to Jeffrey Epstein AFTER he was a convicted sex offender.”<\/p>\n

Jackson\u2019s comments are seemingly in reference to House Minority Leader Jeffries’ name being said to have appeared in a 2013 fundraising email sent to Epstein. Jeffries, per Newsweek, has no recollection of the email and has “never met” Epstein.
\nDel. Plaskett made headlines for having exchanged texts with Epstein during a 2019 congressional hearing. Her spokesperson told CNN earlier this month that she “received texts from staff, constituents and the public at large offering advice, support and in some cases partisan vitriol, including from Epstein,” adding that Plaskett “welcomes information that helps her get at the truth and took on the GOP that was trying to bury the truth.”
