Judges Derek Hough<\/strong>, Carrie Ann Inaba<\/strong>, and Bruno Tonioli<\/strong> scored the dances, with no guest judge<\/strong> at the table. Robert Irwin<\/strong> and Witney Carson<\/strong> took the top of the leaderboard with a near-perfect 59 out of 60<\/strong>. Their first routine, a jive to “Baby I’m a Star,”<\/strong> wowed the judges and earned a perfect 30 out of 30<\/strong>. Inaba<\/strong> called it<\/a>, “That was insane. Their second performance, a Viennese waltz to “WOW,”<\/strong> received a strong 29 out of 30<\/strong>. Tonioli<\/strong> called it<\/a>, “Top Gun mode […] thrilling,” while Hough<\/strong> praised it as “a ferocious Viennese waltz.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Alix Earle<\/strong> and Val Chmerkovskiy<\/strong> tied Leavitt and Ballas<\/strong> for second place on the leaderboard<\/a> with 58 out of 60<\/strong>. Their first routine was an Argentine tango to “Little Red Corvette,”<\/strong> which earned 28 out of 30 points<\/strong>, followed by a Viennese waltz to “Purple Rain,”<\/strong> which received a perfect 30 out of 30 points<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Leavitt and Ballas<\/strong> also achieved a total of 58 out of 60<\/strong>. Their cha cha to “1999”<\/strong> scored 29 out of 30<\/strong>, and their Viennese waltz to “Slow Love”<\/strong> brought in another 29 out of 30<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Dylan Efron<\/strong> and Daniella Karagach<\/strong> had the lowest score<\/strong> of the evening with 55 points<\/strong>. Although they had scored a perfect routine the previous week, this time Efron slipped slightly. His tango to “I Would Die 4 U”<\/strong> was critiqued by Inaba<\/strong>, who said<\/a>, “A little mess up with footwork. I don’t feel you were feeling the music.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The couple earned 27 out of 30<\/strong> for that performance. Their second dance, a cha cha to “Kiss,”<\/strong> fared slightly better with a score of 28 out of 30<\/strong>. Hough<\/strong> said<\/a>, “It was so impressive. You should be proud.” Still, it wasn’t enough to move them higher on the leaderboard.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Then came the moment that shattered the ballroom<\/strong>. When Ribeiro <\/strong>and Julianne Hough<\/strong> announced the results \u2014 with no particular order<\/strong> \u2014 they declared Hendrix and Bersten<\/strong>, Earle and Chmerkovskiy<\/strong>, Irwin and Carson<\/strong>, and Efron and Karagach<\/strong> as safe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The elimination caused instant backlash<\/strong> online. Fans stormed the show’s Instagram page<\/strong> with angry comments. “There has never been a season with tbis [sic] much online bullying it’s actually ridiculous and shame on DWTS for not addressing it. I’m not watching the finale,”<\/i> one viewer wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Some comments turned against Inaba<\/strong> and her judging choices. “As much as I’m not a Whitney fan, shame on Carrie Ann for removing her lift policy last week but reinforcing it again this week,”<\/i> one fan said<\/a>. Last week, Andy Richter and Emma Slater<\/strong> were eliminated during the show’s 20th anniversary episode<\/strong>. Richter, 59, reflected on his journey, saying<\/a>, “It’s changed my life. I’m a different person because of this show and because of this woman right here. None of this would have happened without her. She knew how to use me.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
