It was meant to be a peaceful family outing by the river. But by sundown, two young brothers were missing. By nightfall, their lifeless bodies were pulled from the water, sending shockwaves through a quiet Texas community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Banx McAmis<\/strong>, just four years old, and his seven-year-old brother Bowyn Miller<\/strong> were discovered dead on the evening of Tuesday, October 7, 2025<\/strong>, along the Brazos River<\/strong> in Johnson County, Texas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Authorities revealed<\/a> that the boys had been playing by the water’s edge at Hamm Creek Park<\/strong>, just outside Rio Vista<\/strong>, when they vanished around 6:10 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

What was described<\/a> as a “frantic two-hour search” followed<\/strong>. Rescue crews scoured the area until, at around 8:30 p.m.<\/strong>, the children were recovered from the river. According to the Johnson County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/strong>, the boys had been at the park with their parents. Lt. Keven George<\/strong> shared<\/a>, “Unfortunately, it’s one of those situations where they looked away for a minute and it didn’t take much.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Family members painted a picture of two inseparable brothers. Banx<\/strong> was described<\/a> as full of life<\/strong>, brimming with energy, and fond of Ninja Turtles, Pok\u00e9mon<\/strong>, and splashing in puddles<\/strong>. Bowyn<\/strong> loved karate, video games<\/strong>, and spending time outdoors with his siblings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the wake of the tragedy, the boys’ aunt, Emery Jarrel<\/strong>, launched a GoFundMe<\/strong><\/a> to assist with funeral and memorial costs<\/strong>. She remembered Bowyn<\/strong> as a caring second grader who cherished time with his brother and sister, while Banx<\/strong> was endlessly energetic<\/strong>, always eager to play \u2014 rain or shine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
