Joan is survived by her sons<\/strong>, Ted Jr. and former Congressman Patrick; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; more than 30 nieces and nephews; and her sister, Candace “Candy” McMurrey of Houston, Texas.<\/strong> Her daughter Kara passed away<\/i> in 2011.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I tried to be like the Kennedys,” <\/strong>she shared<\/a>. “Bouncy and running all over the place. But I could never be that. That’s not me.<\/strong> I’d rather take long walks, sit by the fire or [sic] play the piano.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
