The family of Fox Sports\u00a0NFL<\/a>\u00a0analyst and former New York Jets quarterback\u00a0Mark Sanchez<\/a>\u00a0has broken its silence after his arrest and brief hospitalization in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the football world was shocked to learn that\u00a0Mark Sanchez had been hospitalized<\/a>\u00a0after being stabbed numerous times in Indianapolis. The former USC quarterback was in Indy to cover the Colts\u2019 home game against the New York Jets with his broadcast partner, Chris Myers.<\/p>\n

But in an unexpected twist, it was later reported that\u00a0Sanchez had attacked a 69-year-old truck driver<\/a>\u00a0delivering cooking oil to a local hotel. The man told police he stabbed Sanchez in self-defense, fearing that the former NFL quarterback was trying to kill him.<\/p>\n

The 38-year-old Mark Sanchez was arrested, charged with a felony and faces a potential prison sentence of six years.<\/p>\n

Mark\u2019s brother, Nick Sanchez, broke the family\u2019s silence with a statement to\u00a0TMZ Sports<\/a>\u00a0following the horrific incident. Nick thanked those who have offered their support while adding that Mark is still receiving medical care:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been a deeply distressing time for everyone involved. Mark and our family are incredibly grateful for the concern, love, and support we\u2019ve received over the past few days.<\/p>\n

Mark remains under medical care for the serious injuries he sustained and is focused on his recovery as the legal process continues. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the first responders and medical staff.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sanchez was drafted fifth overall by the Jets in 2009 and led them to consecutive AFC Championship games in his first two seasons. After six seasons as a journeyman backup, he announced his retirement in 2019.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, Sanchez\u2019s violent altercation with the 69-year-old man will also cost him his promising job at Fox Sports.<\/p>\n

An insider at\u00a0Fox has confirmed that Mark Sanchez<\/a>\u00a0will no longer appear on the network and that they\u2019re already looking for a replacement. Sanchez began his NFL broadcasting career with ESPN in 2019 and stayed there for two years before joining Fox two years later.<\/p>\n

Sanchez previously worked with play-by-play commentators Adam Amin and Kevin Kugler.
