Mark Sanchez<\/a>\u2019s tenure as an\u00a0NFL<\/a>\u00a0analyst at Fox Sports is reportedly set to end as more disturbing details about his arrest come to light.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, news broke that\u00a0Mark Sanchez was hospitalized in Indianapolis<\/a>\u00a0after being stabbed numerous times. The former NFL quarterback was in Indy to call the Colts-Las Vegas Raiders<\/a>\u00a0game with play-by-play commentator Chris Myers.<\/p>\n

But in a stunning twist, it was later revealed that\u00a0Sanchez attacked a 69-year-old truck driver<\/a>\u00a0who was picking up cooking oil at a local hotel. The man told police that he stabbed Sanchez in self-defense, fearing that Sanchez was trying to kill him.<\/p>\n

Sanchez has been charged with a felony and faces up to six years in prison. Not only that, but his actions will, likely and unsurprisingly, cost Sanchez his blossoming tenure at Fox Sports.<\/p>\n

An insider at Fox told the\u00a0Daily Mail<\/a><\/em>\u00a0that Sanchez is finished at the network. He hasn\u2019t officially been terminated from his contract, but Sanchez was reportedly told that he won\u2019t appear on their broadcasts anymore:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s already been told that he won\u2019t be on camera again, and we\u2019ve made the moves to replace him. As long as there are serious charges pending we really just can\u2019t have him on screen.<\/p>\n

He has not yet been officially fired, because that takes some legalities, but that\u2019s where this is going,\u2019 the source continued. \u2018He has a morals clause in his contract, like everyone else. This arrest violates that clause, and it\u2019s a terminable offense.<\/p>\n

I guarantee within the next couple days, a statement will say that Sanchez and Fox have decided to part ways. This is a career-ending event, especially while things haven\u2019t even gone to court yet.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The New York Jets drafted Sanchez fifth overall in 2009, and the USC quarterback looked like a budding star after leading his team to consecutive national championship game appearances in \u201909 and 2010, including road playoff wins over\u00a0Tom Brady<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Peyton Manning<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But Sanchez never took that next step forward and was finished as a starting quarterback after the 2012 season. He floated around the league as a backup through the 2018 season before retiring for good in 2019.<\/p>\n

Sanchez joined ESPN as a college football analyst after his retirement, before moving to Fox Sports in 2021. Sanchez was sharp and informative with his NFL analysis, but it\u2019s hard to imagine him earning another position after this.<\/p>\n
