Speaking to reporters on Friday, Chris Jones revealed that his aunt Angela died of a heart attack during the Chiefs\u2019 Week 3 \u201cSunday Night Football Game\u201d against the New York Giants on Sept. 21.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe meant a lot,\u201d Jones said, per Chloe Godding of\u00a0KMBC<\/a>. \u201cI actually stayed with her for a duration, part of my life, probably like five or six years. So we were very close.<\/p>\n \u201cShe was actually watching my game when she passed away, so. Meant a lot to me, my family, huge supporter.\u201d<\/p>\n Jones attended Angela\u2019s funeral in Mississippi before last Sunday\u2019s game against the\u00a0Baltimore Ravens<\/a>. He arrived at Arrowhead Stadium shortly before kickoff and helped the Chiefs to a 37-20 victory.<\/p>\n Chris Jones learned the tragic news from his family after the win over the Giants. He also expressed gratitude to\u00a0Andy Reid<\/a>\u00a0and the coaching staff for their understanding and helpfulness during the difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n Our thoughts and prayers are with Jones\u2019 family during this difficult time.<\/p>\n The Chiefs lost their first two games of 2025, raising questions about whether their dominant reign was coming to an end.
