Left-wing terror attacks are on track to reach record highs this year \u2014 as Democrats have been accused of ramping up their\u00a0harmful rhetoric<\/a>\u00a0in their opposition to the Trump administration, a disturbing new study has found.<\/p>\n

Violent plots planned or perpetrated by the far left in the US, as a percentage of all terrorist attacks and plots, hit a record high in the first half of 2025, and are on pace to reach a three-decade high, according to a study from the Center for Strategic & International Studies.<\/p>\n

Through July 4, 2025 \u2014 thus excluding the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the attack on the Dallas ICE facility \u2014 there were five left-wing attacks or plots, the study found.<\/p>\n

This is more than eight times higher than the average of 0.6 left-wing incidents annually from 1995 to 2000.<\/p>\n

CSIS researchers compiled and analyzed a dataset of 750 terrorist attacks and plots in the United States between January 1, 1994, and July 4, 2025.<\/p>\n

For the first time in 30 years, terrorist attacks from the far left are outpacing attacks from the extreme right, the analysis also shows.<\/p>\n

The CSIS study found that the increase in left-wing violence since President Trump first took office in 2016 has been largely motivated by anti-government extremism or partisan extremism.<\/p>\n

Since then,\u00a0\u201call left-wing attacks through July 4, 2025, appeared to be motivated by one of these ideologies,\u201d the study found, noting that Kirk\u2019s fatal shooting appears to fit the pattern.<\/p>\n

Kirk\u2019s alleged killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, scrawled \u201cHey fascist, catch this\u201d on a shell casing before shooting him dead on Sept. 10, law enforcement officials said.<\/p>\n

The CSIS study found the rise in left-wing violence this year can be explained \u201cas opposition to the Trump administration fuels attacks against both its political leadership and the state institutions that carry out its agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n

The study notes immigration has also emerged as a major issue this year, highlighted by this week\u2019s attack at an ICE detention center in Dallas \u2014 which Trump\u00a0blamed on the rhetoric from \u201cradical left Democrats.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

While political \u201cleaders are not responsible for extremists in their midst,\u201d the authors wrote, \u201cthey are responsible for how they behave towards extremism.\u201d They called for both sides to condemn violence from their side and call for calm when it involves the other.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe celebrations among some on the left of Luigi Mangione is a failure to undermine support for left-wing violence,\u201d the study said.<\/p>\n

Democrats have come under fire for calling those in this Republican administration \u201cNazis\u201d or \u201cfascists\u201d \u2014 particularly in regard to its massive deportation effort.<\/p>\n

In July, the\u00a0White House urged Dems to \u201ctone down\u201d<\/a>\u00a0their critiques of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but many have continued.<\/p>\n

Just this week, California Gov. Gavin Newsom appeared on \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert\u201d and\u00a0slammed ICE<\/a>\u00a0as a \u201cprivate domestic army\u201d being used to bolster the Trump admin\u2019s \u201cauthoritarian tendencies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minnesota Gov. and former Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz has\u00a0referred to the agency<\/a>\u00a0as a \u201cmodern-day Gestapo.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span>Far-left \u201cSquad\u201d Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.)\u00a0earlier this month described<\/a>\u00a0Trump\u2019s Washington, DC, crime crackdown as a \u201cfascist takeover.\u201d<\/p>\n

And even before losing the 2024 election, former Vice President Kamala Harris\u00a0agreed that Trump was a \u201cfascist\u201d<\/a>\u00a0when she was asked on the campaign trail.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the study\u2019s authors said, one possible explanation for the decline in right-wing terrorism this year is that \u201csome extremists do not feel the need to act violently if their concerns are being addressed\u201d since Trump took office.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
