President Donald Trump revealed what he described as one of Charlie Kirk\u2019s final requests before the conservative activist\u2019s assassination earlier this month.<\/span><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking at a memorial event in Glendale, Arizona, Trump said Kirk had urged his administration to \u201csave Chicago.\u201d Kirk was born and raised in the city\u2019s suburbs.<\/p>\n

In recent weeks, Trump has pledged to override Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and deploy National Guard troops to Chicago as part of a broad crackdown on crime.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe owe Charlie a profound and eternal debt of gratitude,\u201d Trump said during his speech, going on to praise the Turning Point USA founder for promoting \u201cfreedom and justice\u201d around the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharles James Kirk was heinously murdered by a radicalized leftist for speaking the truth that was in his heart,\u201d Trump said. \u201cHe was violently killed because he spoke for freedom and justice, for God, touched for reason and for common sense. He was assassinated because he lived bravely.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe lived boldly and he argued brilliantly without apology. He did what was right for our nation,\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n

Trump addressed Charlie Kirk\u2019s parents and family during his remarks, saying no \u201cwords can fill the void\u201d left by his death, but adding that \u201cAmerica loved Charlie Kirk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump credited Kirk with helping to unite the MAGA and MAHA movements by introducing him to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He also noted that Kirk had introduced him to J.D. Vance early in the Ohio Republican\u2019s political career.<\/p>\n

Kirk, who was shot and killed on September 10 in Utah Valley, was credited with helping expand Trump\u2019s support among young voters during the 2024 election.<\/p>\n

Trump, himself the target of a pair of assassination attempts last year, said it was a \u201csurreal experience\u201d the moment he learned that Kirk had been shot and killed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe gun was pointed at him, but the bullet was aimed at every one of us,\u201d he said. \u201cCharlie is bigger than two weeks ago\u2026.think about it\u2026he\u2019s eternal. I just want to say we love him. He\u2019s looking down today and saying, \u2018That\u2019s a great crowd!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump secured 43 percent of the vote among voters aged 18 to 29, a share analysts partly credited to Kirk\u2019s efforts on college campuses, where he frequently registered young conservatives to vote.<\/p>\n

At the memorial, tens of thousands of supporters in the stadium greeted Trump with cheers. In a symbolic gesture of unity, billionaire Elon Musk joined the president in his booth, where the two shook hands.<\/p>\n

Following Kirk\u2019s death, Trump ordered U.S. flags at the White House lowered to half-staff. In subsequent media interviews, he said he believed Kirk had the potential to succeed him as president.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, FBI Director Kash Patel\u00a0has provided\u00a0an update on the investigation of Kirk\u2019s assassination, saying the FBI is \u201cpursuing every lead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested and charged with Kirk\u2019s murder, but Patel said the FBI is looking into the \u201cpossibility of accomplices.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are meticulously investigating theories and questions, including the location from where the shot was taken, the possibility of accomplices, the text message confession and related conversations, Discord chats, the angle of the shot and bullet impact, how the weapon was transported, hand gestures observed as potential \u2018signals\u2019 near Charlie at the time of his assassination, and visitors to the alleged shooter\u2019s residence in the hours and days leading up to September 10, 2025,\u201d Patel said in a post on X.<\/p>\n

Patel added, \u201cThe entire FBI mourns the loss of Charlie Kirk. We will not rest until justice is served, and our investigation into this assassination will continue until every question is answered.\u201d<\/p>\n

The online messaging platform Discord confirmed reports that about two hours before Robinson was taken into custody, he posted messages to a small group of friends on the platform.<\/p>\n
