They\u2019re fanning the flames.<\/p>\n

Diehard fans of\u00a0Luigi Mangione<\/a>\u00a0ghoulishly hooped and hollered in celebration outside a Manhattan courthouse Tuesday as the accused CEO assassin\u2019s\u00a0terrorism charges were dropped<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Many fanatics had camped out all night to see Mangione and held up homemade signs intermingling beefcake-like images of the twisted folk hero with political and anti-health insurance company messages.<\/p>\n

\u201cFree! Luigi!\u201d one protester, who wore a green hat like the Luigi video game character, shouted in a call-and-response chant.<\/p>\n

The carnival-esque celebration unfolded against the backdrop of conservative influencer\u00a0Charlie Kirk\u2019s assassination<\/a>\u00a0last week putting a spotlight on US political violence.<\/p>\n

Mangione had already attracted a warped following among many leftists \u2013 who flocked, often clad in costumes, to his past court hearings \u2013 after he allegedly\u00a0murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson<\/a>\u00a0in December.<\/p>\n

Their poisonous political pageantry continued as Mangione was carted into a Manhattan Supreme Court hearing, where a judge was expected to debate whether jurors could see his diary.<\/p>\n

Mangione, 27<\/a>, wants to block prosecutors from bringing up his notebook \u2014 where he purportedly mused about\u00a0killing the \u201cgreedy\u201d\u00a0<\/a>CEO to draw attention to an industry that \u201cextracts human life force for money\u201d \u2014 when he goes on trial for the Dec. 4, 2024, assassination in Midtown.<\/p>\n

Cops in Altoona, Pa.<\/a>, discovered the red notebook, a partially 3D-printed pistol, zip ties and rolls of duct tape inside the\u00a0privileged anti-capitalist\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0backpack when he was nabbed after a five-day manhunt.<\/p>\n

The suspect\u2019s lawyers have lobbied to \u201csuppress\u201d the contents of the bag from being shown at trial, arguing that the Pennsylvania cops breached Mangione\u2019s constitutional rights by searching him before getting a warrant.<\/p>\n

But the Manhattan DA\u2019s Office says it has the right to show jurors the screeds of a man they accuse of carrying out the twisted \u201cact of terrorism\u201d by executing the father of two on the day of UnitedHealthcare\u2019s investor conference.<\/p>\n

In an Oct. 22 entry,\u00a0Mangione \u2013<\/a>\u2013 who grew up in a wealthy, well-known Baltimore family \u2014 allegedly fantasized about the news coverage that such a murder would receive.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe point is made in the news headline Insurance CEO killed at annual investors conference,\u201d the University of Pennsylvania grad allegedly wrote. \u201cIt conveys a greedy bastard that had it coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Gregory Carro punted on a decision over the diary.<\/p>\n

But he\u00a0dismissed the terrorism charges<\/a>\u00a0against Mangione, in a victory for his defense.<\/p>\n

Carro also rejected Mangione\u2019s motion to pause the state case while he\u00a0goes to trial in a separate federal murder case\u00a0that carries a possible death penalty.<\/a><\/p>\n

The mixed bag for Mangione didn\u2019t appear to matter for his fans, who didn\u2019t bring their circus inside the courtroom.<\/p>\n

They cheered the top charges being dropped, while holding signs such as \u201cWealth Comes First\u201d and \u201cLock Up The Real Criminals,\u201d which featured photos of President Trump and Mayor Eric Adams.<\/p>\n

One woman named Jasmin, who also wore a Luigi video game character hat, showed off a backpack with Mangione\u2019s image etched in lights.<\/p>\n

Another flower-garlanded woman wore a pink shirt with Mangione\u2019s face inside a heart, with \u201cItalian Boys\u201d emblazoned below.<\/p>\n

Mangione\u2019s remaining charge of second-degree murder means he\u2019s still charged with intentionally killing\u00a0Thompson,\u00a0a father-of-two\u00a0\u2014 just\u00a0not as an act of terrorism.<\/p>\n
