The chilling messages Tyler Robinson sent to his roommate after assassinating Charlie Kirk have been detailed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Robinson, 22, was charged with the murder<\/a> of the political activist on Tuesday (September 16), with prosecutors now seeking the death penalty.<\/p>\n

Kirk<\/a> was fatally shot by a single bullet while speaking at a college event at Utah<\/a> Valley University on September 10.<\/p>\n

The conservative commentator arrived on campus on the first leg of his ‘American Comeback Tour’, organized by the conservative youth organization, Turning Point USA, which he co-founded and stood as executive director.<\/p>\n

And while answering questions, he was fatally shot in the neck mid-speech.<\/p>\n

Robinson has been charged with seven offences, including aggravated murder and obstruction of justice.<\/p>\n

The seven counts are as followed:<\/p>\n

  • Count 1: Aggravated murder<\/li>\n
  • Count 2: Felony discharge of a firearm<\/li>\n
  • Count 3: Obstruction of justice – moving a firearm<\/li>\n
  • Count 4: Obstruction of justice – disposing of clothing<\/li>\n
  • Count 5: Witness tampering – telling a roommate to delete messages<\/li>\n
  • Count 6: Witness tampering – telling a roommate to stay quiet<\/li>\n
  • Count 7: Committing violent crime when children are present<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Investigators have been speaking to Robinson’s roommate in recent days, who Utah District Attorney Jeff Gray described as ‘a biological male who was was involved in a romantic relationship with Robinson’.<\/p>\n

    Robinson admitted killing Kirk to his roommate in a text exchange.<\/p>\n

    Gray explained in a press conference on Tuesday: “The roommate received a text message from Robinson which said: ‘Drop what you’re doing. Look under my keyboard.’ The roommate looked under the keyboard and found a note that stated, ‘I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I’m going to take it.'”<\/p>\n

    The roommate responded by writing: “What? You’re joking,” according to Gray, while the attorney revealed that the suspect also told his roommate that he killed Kirk because he had ‘enough of his hatred’.<\/p>\n

    Gray went on to detail messages between Robinson and his housemate, as the suspect attempted to evade the authorities and provided his roommate with updates to his whereabouts.<\/p>\n

    Prosecutors are now seeking the death penalty, with a reporter asking the Utah district attorney whether he had spoken with Donald Trump after the president previously suggested Robinson should receive the death penalty.<\/p>\n

    Gray said: “I talked to officials from both administrations, but I was not pressured to make a decision. I understood their feelings on it because it was in the news, but we didn’t really discuss that.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
