Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar Criticizes Remembering Charlie Kirk for His Good Deeds<\/strong><\/p>\n Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar said on Thursday that it is \u201cf**ked up\u201d for people to celebrate the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk for his positive contributions.<\/p>\n Just one day after Kirk\u2019s death, Omar accused him on Zeteo<\/em> of being insensitive to school shootings, the death of George Floyd, and slavery. She dismissed the idea that Kirk helped foster civil political discussion on college campuses by debating those who disagreed with him.<\/p>\n \u201cCharlie was someone who once said guns save lives after a school shooting,\u201d Omar told host Mehdi Hasan.<\/p>\n \u201cCharlie was someone who was willing to debate and downplay the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police. He downplayed slavery and what Black people have endured in this country by saying Juneteenth should never exist,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I think there are a lot of people out there talking about him just wanting to have a civil debate. There is nothing more f**ked up than to completely pretend that his words and actions have not been recorded and exist over the last decade or so.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThese people are full of s**t, and it\u2019s important for us to call them out,\u201d Omar added.<\/p>\n The far-left lawmaker, who once expressed allegiance to Somalia over the U.S., also baselessly claimed that Kirk said empathy should not exist.<\/p>\n Kirk, a devout Christian, traveled across U.S. college campuses to debate liberal students who opposed him. In a June 29 interview on The Iced Coffee Hour<\/em> podcast, he said he wanted to be remembered for his faith.<\/p>\n \u201cI wanna be remembered for courage for my faith. That, that would be the most important thing. The most important thing is my faith in my life,\u201d Kirk said.<\/p>\n Some left-wing figures have celebrated Kirk\u2019s death or blamed President Donald Trump and Republicans for increased political violence. After Trump noted the role of the \u201cracial left\u201d in the assassination, authorities discovered cartridges engraved with pro-transgender and pro-Antifa messages.<\/p>\n Middle Tennessee State University fired former assistant dean Laura Sosh-Lightsy on Wednesday after she posted on Facebook that she had \u201czero sympathy\u201d for Kirk. Charles H.F. Davis, a University of Michigan professor, wrote on X that Kirk\u2019s assassination was a \u201csolution\u201d to \u201cviolent rhetoric spewed by empowered people.\u201d<\/p>\n MSNBC terminated political analyst Matthew Dowd for suggesting Kirk brought his assassination on himself through his \u201chate speech.\u201d Other social media users praised Kirk\u2019s killing and claimed he deserved it.<\/p>\n House Democrats erupted in anger on Wednesday after Republican Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert requested that the chamber say a prayer for Kirk. House Speaker Mike Johnson called for order and granted Boebert\u2019s request.<\/p>\n As of Thursday night, the assassin remains at large. The FBI in Salt Lake City released photos of a young adult male wearing a black sweatshirt with an American flag, a dark cap, and sunglasses. Investigators recovered the high-powered, bolt-action rifle allegedly used in the killing from a wooded area.<\/p>\n President Trump announced Thursday that he will award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Vice President J.D.
