Authorities believe the suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson of Utah, opened fire from the roof of a student services building nearly 200 yards away from the event.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-5\" style=\"margin: 8px 0; clear: both;\"><!-- RevContent --><\/p>\n<div data-widget-host=\"revcontent\" data-pub-id=\"180567\" data-widget-id=\"284824\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-start=\"806\" data-end=\"1251\">Erika, 36, addressed the public during a press conference on Friday, Sept. 12, where she expressed her gratitude to local, state, and federal law enforcement. She also extended thanks to Charlie\u2019s \u201cdear friend,\u201d Vice President JD Vance, and his \u201cphenomenal wife,\u201d Usha Vance, \u201cfor their love and support.\u201d In addition, she thanked former President Donald Trump for both his friendship with Charlie and his personal support during this tragedy.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"max-width: 100%; display: block; margin: 1.5em auto; aspect-ratio: 16 \/ 9;\" title=\"Erika Kirk speaks publicly for first time since fatal shooting of her husband, Charlie Kirk\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BQaSaZuil-4\" width=\"100%\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1253\" data-end=\"1373\">\u201cCharlie always said that when he was gone, he wanted to be remembered for his courage and for his faith,\u201d Erika said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1375\" data-end=\"1547\">\u201cMost of all, Charlie loved his children, and he loved me with all of his heart,\u201d she continued. \u201cMy husband laid down his life for me, for our nation, for our children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1549\" data-end=\"1778\">She added that Charlie often told her that, if he ever chose to run for office, his top priority would be reviving the American family. She then confirmed that Charlie\u2019s <em data-start=\"1719\" data-end=\"1743\">American Comeback Tour<\/em> will still continue in the fall.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1780\" data-end=\"1979\">\u201cI honestly have no idea what any of this means. I know that God does, but I don\u2019t,\u201d Erika admitted. \u201cAll the evildoers responsible for my husband\u2019s assassination have no idea what they have done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1981\" data-end=\"2126\">She also shared the heartbreaking way she explained the tragedy to their 3-year-old daughter. She\u2019s three,\u201d Erika said, holding back tears. \u201cI told her, \u2018Baby, Daddy loves you so much. Don\u2019t you worry. He\u2019s on a work trip with Jesus, so he can afford your blueberry budget.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2349\" data-end=\"2604\">Concluding her remarks, Erika offered her gratitude: \u201cThank you all again, who love my husband, who supported him, who wrote him an email every single day during his radio show\u2014he read all of them, all of them. God bless you all. And God bless America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2606\" data-end=\"2922\">Erika and Charlie first met in 2018. They became engaged in December 2020 and were married in May 2021. During their four-year marriage, the couple welcomed two children: a daughter in August 2022 and a son in May 2024. Charlie\u2019s death came just weeks after he and Erika celebrated their daughter\u2019s third birthday.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2924\" data-end=\"3233\">Matt Lamb, a former Turning Point USA official, told <em data-start=\"2977\" data-end=\"2985\">People<\/em> following Kirk\u2019s death, \u201cHe loved his wife and loved his kids. You could just tell by the way he talked about them. Certainly, he has a more important legacy than Turning Point in his wife and his two kids. His legacy will live on through that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3235\" data-end=\"3417\">Meanwhile, suspected gunman Tyler Robinson is being held on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto; display: block; margin: 1em auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/allmyvista.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/charlie-kirk-4-091025-8adb0e8bab434f6cb85fdbb5417271dc-1.webp\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nCharlie Kirk, Erika Kirk on May 15, 2025.<br \/>\nCharlie Kirk\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3419\" data-end=\"3716\">In Utah, prosecutors may seek the death penalty in aggravated murder cases if certain criteria are met. According to the probable cause affidavit filed in Robinson\u2019s case, the alleged gunman is accused of \u201cshooting Charlie Kirk in a circumstance that put many around him at grave risk of death.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3718\" data-end=\"4103\">Robinson is scheduled to be formally charged on Tuesday, Sept. 16\u2014the same day as his arraignment, during which he will enter a plea. While he could pursue a plea deal to avoid capital punishment, a conviction at trial could result in a death sentence. In Utah, executions are carried out by lethal injection, though a firing squad may be used if the necessary drugs are unavailable.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4105\" data-end=\"4399\">Utah Governor Spencer Cox explained during the Sept. 12 press conference that Robinson was identified after a relative confided in a family friend that Robinson had either confessed or strongly implied responsibility for the shooting.
