The\u00a0NFL and Roger Goodell were one of the few leagues that did not speak out<\/a>\u00a0following the tragic shooting death of Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n

They certainly answered the criticism in a big way during\u00a0Thursday Night Football<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kirk, a well-known conservative activist in the United States and staunch ally of President Donald Trump,\u00a0was shot dead at an event at Utah Valley University<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

A suspect has since been apprehended in that shooting death.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0NFL<\/a>\u00a0honored the conservative influencer with a trumpet-only rendition of the national anthem before the Green Bay Packers took on the\u00a0Washington Commanders<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday Night Football.<\/p>\n

Not many fans appreciated it.<\/p>\n

Ashley Nicole Moss of CBS Sports commented,\u00a0\u201cPolitics don\u2019t belong in sports though, right?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
