Charlie Kirk<\/strong><\/a>‘s supporters have been paying tribute to him since he was shot to death on Wednesday … and, a few of his close friends in Congress are trying to immortalize him on Capitol Hill forever.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

<\/p>\n

12 Republicans in the House of Representatives signed a letter addressed to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson<\/strong> … which begins by laying out Wednesday’s tragic events before highlighting all the good Kirk’s done via Turning Point USA.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

<\/p>\n

The letter calls out the political left for creating “a toxic environment where one side finds it acceptable to stoke fear and violence to silence civil dissent” … then asks Speaker Johnson to direct that a statue of Kirk be placed in the United States Capitol.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The signees argue Kirk’s statue will serve as a reminder that political disagreement shouldn’t be answered with political violence.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna<\/strong> shared the letter to X … and, she told her followers, she wouldn’t be in Congress if Kirk hadn’t advocated for her so strongly. She was the first to sign the letter.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Among other notable names who signed on … Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert<\/strong><\/a>, Atlanta Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene<\/strong><\/a>, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds<\/strong>, Illnois Rep. Mary Miller<\/strong> and Missouri Rep. Eric Burlison<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

This might be a long shot, if we’re being honest … the Capitol Building has precious few statues in it — and, the topic of Kirk caused controversy when brought up right after his death.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

ICYMI … Speaker Johnson held a moment of silence in the House of Representatives for Kirk after he was shot — before Representative Boebert asked for an audible prayer as well.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

<\/p>\n

Democrats opposed on the grounds that other tragic shootings hadn’t received such a gesture on the House floor … and Representative Luna then yelled and claimed the Dems caused the Kirk shooting.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

<\/p>\n

Kirk was killed<\/strong><\/a> after a bullet struck him in the neck on the Utah Valley University campus. Law enforcement authorities are still searching for the shooter<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
