Influential conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated Wednesday during a campus speaking event in Utah, officials confirmed.<\/p>\n
Kirk, 31, was a close ally of President Trump and was a powerful surrogate and adviser to his political movement.<\/p>\n
He was shot during a well-attended outdoor event on the campus of Utah Valley University while taking questions from members of the crowd.<\/p>\n
Kirk co-founded the Turning Point USA organization in 2012 and rapidly built it into a national network of campus groups ellipsing traditional college Republican clubs.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a very, very good friend of mine and he was a tremendous person,\u201d Trump told The Post shortly before Kirk\u2019s death was confirmed.<\/p>\n
Kirk is survived by his wife Erika Frantzve, whom he married in 2021, and two young children.<\/p>\n
