Whoopi Goldberg did not hold back on Monday, using the Season 29 premiere of \u201cThe View\u201d<\/strong> to criticize Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.<\/strong> following what she described as his disastrous Senate hearing last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re playing Russian roulette with the lives of children,\u201d Goldberg said during a live segment that also examined Florida\u2019s plans to end school vaccine mandates<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Early in the show, Goldberg showcased clips of Kennedy being questioned by lawmakers from both parties over his controversial vaccine policies. She highlighted his decision to cancel $500 million in mRNA vaccine contracts<\/strong> and his appointment of a vaccine-skeptic-heavy advisory committee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny time you go to a school, it is a \u2014 who knows what\u2019s in there? They sneeze, everybody gets sick. You think you\u2019re dying, you know, but you\u2019re not, you just got hit by kid stuff. We know that this happens,\u201d Goldberg said.<\/p>\n

She went on to explain why vaccine mandates exist in the first place:<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are reasons that people put these mandates in place. Now, you want to get rid of all of them? You\u2019re basically saying, \u2018Let\u2019s see what happens if your kid goes to school with other kids.\u2019 And your grandparents, who are elderly, are in with your grandkids. So now, you\u2019re saying, y\u2019all don\u2019t care.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Goldberg has previously criticized Kennedy for his comments in February, when he described a measles outbreak in Texas as \u2018not unusual\u2019<\/strong>, warning that misinformation could result in deaths if people did not take precautions.<\/p>\n

During the segment, Joy Behar<\/strong> pointed out that four GOP senators with medical degrees had voted to confirm Kennedy. Goldberg responded sharply, saying the senators had \u201call made a decision to follow a road that has a nine-million-foot drop.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are things that you can control,\u201d she said of getting children vaccinated.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t control a lot of stuff that\u2019s happening, but these are the little things that you can take in hand and grab and say, \u2019I\u2019m not putting up with this BS! I\u2019m just not going to do it. This is on us, this is what we\u2019re learning.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Goldberg concluded with a call to personal responsibility:<\/p>\n

\u201cOur government, I don\u2019t know where they are. But I know where I am, you know where you are. And it is now our responsibility to take heed to what is going on in our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
