A comedian has faced backlash after posting an image of himself in what online users are calling \u2018white face\u2019. <\/strong><\/p>\n

There have been many controversial moments in the entertainment<\/a> world for using paint and makeup to portray themselves as different races.<\/p>\n

Even politicians have been called out for doing it too, but this latest scandal involves something a little more comprehensive and people aren\u2019t sure how to feel.<\/p>\n

On one hand, there are those on social media<\/a> who are dubbing it as ‘white face’, while others think it\u2019s nothing more than a funny joke based on US<\/a> stereotypes.<\/p>\n

At the heart of it all, comedian and content creator Druski has come under fire.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old, real name Drew Desbordes, has always been known for his real-life memes and appearances at sporting<\/a> events.<\/p>\n

But his latest skit at NASCAR has triggered many.<\/p>\n

Druski has been called out for ‘white face’ (X\/Druski)<\/cite><\/div>\n

In a video uploaded to his social accounts, Druski took on the personal and looks of \u2018That Guy who is just Proud to be AMERICAN\u2019.<\/p>\n

His costume includes white skin, a beard, light hair, tattoos of the American flag, a flagged cowboy hat and denim overalls.<\/p>\n

Essentially, he looks like he\u2019s trying to encapsulate a stereotypical patriotic man from the deep South – perhaps the Bible Belt area.<\/p>\n

He was filmed singing Bruce Springsteen\u2019s ‘Born in the U.S.A.’, drinking beers, sharing a cigarette with a woman he claimed was his \u2018wife\u2019 and even posed with a \u2018fake family\u2019 before he got to the stands.<\/p>\n

In the start of the video, he spits in front of a Black man while leaning against a car, suggesting he doesn’t like Black people.<\/p>\n

Then, he stops his car when seeing another Black man entering the event and asks if ‘he’s lost’ after spitting at him twice.<\/p>\n

While some were more impressed about his ability to transform himself with the use of makeup on X<\/a>, others found the whole thing problematic.<\/p>\n

One person wrote: \u201cGive his makeup team a raise. Holy s***.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another said: \u201cThat make up is something else.\u201d<\/p>\n

He responded to the backlash (X\/Druski)<\/cite><\/div>\n

Those who were upset, were not afraid to call him out and claim that the whole skit reeks of racism<\/a>, accusing him of \u2018whitefacing\u2019.<\/p>\n

A third referenced Robert Downey Jr’s blackface in 2008\u2019s Tropic Thunder<\/em>, saying: “This is some of the best makeup I\u2019ve ever seen honestly lol, this is higher quality than RDJ in Tropic Thunder<\/em>. I wonder how much this cost.”<\/p>\n

A different user admitted: “I can\u2019t believe this brother is almost pulling off this look lol. Usually that shit looks uncanny Valley AF.”<\/p>\n

Comedian Theo Vonn also responded, telling fans he wants his makeup done too.<\/p>\n

\u201cWowwww. Anyone do hair and m\/u? hit my dms. i feel a jheri curl coming on,\u201d wrote the 45-year-old comedian on his X account.<\/p>\n

However, Druski kept it all in his stride and even asked if the internet has \u2018cancelled\u2019 him now.<\/p>\n

Posting a follow-up clip to Instagram<\/a>, he captioned the video in response to the backlash.<\/p>\n

It said: \u201cAM I CANCELLED ?????\u201d.<\/p>\n

The video was of him walking through a studio in a suit, cigarette in hand, with James Brown\u2019s \u2018It\u2019s a Man\u2019s Man\u2019s Man\u2019s World\u2019 as background music.<\/p>\n

He also posted to his Instagram Stories asking, \u2018Why is this on the news?\u2019 after news stations covered the backlash.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
