On Tuesday,\u00a0Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement<\/a>\u00a0in an Instagram post\u00a0captioned\u00a0\u201cYour English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married\ud83e\udde8.\u201d<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0The\u00a0engagement ring Kelce presented to Swift reportedly cost\u00a0$550,000<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The couple has been together for two years, and rumors about a potential proposal ramped up in the months leading up to their special announcement. Now, the two are officially ready to commit to a lifetime together.<\/p>\n

Of course, the two will still have to work on constructing a prenuptial agreement in case their marriage falls apart. It\u2019s certainly not something Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift want to do. Still, it\u2019s necessary with their wealth and lucrative assets, with the latter having an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Lauryn Overhultz of\u00a0Fox News Digital<\/a>, family law attorney Monica Mazzei of the Buchalter Law Firm suggested that a prenup between Kelce and Swift may have included two serious conditions: a) An agreement to avoid \u201cdisparaging\u201d one another and b) having a private judge preside over the divorce hearings:<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven that they are both public figures, a prenup can also ensure privacy in a divorce, such as precluding any disparaging social media posts or interviews. Likewise, it can require the divorce to be heard by a private judge, further limiting any public exposure.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jacqueline Newman of Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein, LLP, also told Overhultz that the two likely signed a prenup \u201cfar in advance\u201d because of their wealthy financial statuses:<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s very little doubt in my mind that they\u2019ll be negotiating after the fact I think that their teams would make it crucial for this to be something that must be done before the romantic gesture. So, I think they got rid of all the business part of it, and then he obviously dropped to a knee and proposed to her. But I can pretty much guarantee that the agreement is signed, sealed and already in a drawer somewhere.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course, all of this is irrelevant if Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift live happily ever after.<\/p>\n
